CONFIRMED: Moyes Leaving - All Reaction Here

This certainly explains the very cosy MUFC/EFC relationship and I suspect the seeds of this go back years rather than months. I remember being utterly astounded by utd's team selection for the semi final. The guy opposite me on the train commented at the time that Fergie was handing it to us. Plenty of transfers coming our way at reasonable prices, gentleman's agreement over Howard. It does make me wonder.....

I´ve been saying that for years. I also think some players, like say Baines last summer and Mirallas upon joining, would have had a quiet ear about the possibility of following Moyes to United.

If Moyes did infact stay now, would any of you be a little bit gutted? Cause it seems that everyone is kind of settled to the fact it's happening tp the point of just waiting for a new manager.

Not sure how I'd feel, cause, maybe stupidly so, I'm not convinced he's going to United.

Moyes must have known about this for a while. Man United are a business with an annual income of £400m per season, have stock market obligations and are replacing their most successful manager of twenty seven years. They are one of the slickest run teams in world football. They didn't just pull moyes' name out of their arse yesterday. He knew his future was elsewhere. He may not have known the exact timing, but knew it was on the cards. He probably knew it after the Wigan loss. So while we were all hurting at one of the most pathetic surrenders on the pitch for a good few years, Moyes knew he had other options, but still kept dragging the issue out.

Think about that before we have all the talk about standing ovations.

This.

Yet it seems we have many people on here whom are in denial and can see nothing wrong in the way Moyes has strung this whole thing out to the detriment of EFC.

I would be buzzing if he turns down Man u for us, that would be an amazing turn around.

Agree with you about both of those, though Mirallas has probably done himself no favours with his "sub me" routine.

The little manc [Poor language removed] Neville definitely knew

I don't think he's known all season, that for definate fergie would retire and the job was his...

I do think he was probably tipped off by fergie at some point that there was a chance that under the right circumstancies he could retire at the end of season and to keep his options open. If fergie had not won the title back this season he wouldn't of retired, and could well of gone on for 1 more season.

Without trying to sound like I'm defending what moyes may or may not have done, but I imagine its a tough situation, if your told the biggest club in England, one of the biggest in the world, want you on the back of the most succsesfull manager retiring and it must be kept quite at all costs...then what can you do? Maybe he could of informed BK, maybe he did? Maybe he didn't trust him? Who knows but it's quite unreal circumstances IMO.

I certainly don't begrudge him taking or wanting to take the utd job, its probably the most saught after job in world football. I can't think of any other way this whole situation could of panned out really.

You're dead right really, I mean, who would turn down a new, far better job? He's finally getting his shot at it.

There could be better ways of handling it if you're looking from the fans' point of view, but he's not one of us, he's furthering his career, good luck to him I guess.

By the way, you were right to be worried, I was wrong! However, we're Everton, and we'll carry on without Moyes.

And they're almost certainly the same ones who blame everything on Kenwright, and nothing on Moyes. They're oblivious to the fact that Moyes and Kenwright are two cheeks of the same arse; Moyes has been more than happy to take what he can in terms of transfer budgets, and never once really once banged his fist on the table and gave Kenwright et al an ultimatum. They were perfect for each other: a more canny, ambitious and forward-thinking manager would have had Kenwright up against a wall, otherwise he was off; and a Chairman with more dosh would have seen through Moyes' limitations and got shot once we'd found a steady-state, seeking a more dynamic, progressive man to take the team forward.

Yeah of course he would, that'll be why the greatest manager the game has ever seen, has chosen Moyes to be his successor.

Utter bilge that imo

All the ITKs on here have always said "Moyes' first priority is Moyes." There's nothing wrong with that, and it's understandable for him, but all the talk of "he's only stalling talks on his contract so he can squeeze more money out of Kenwright" was laughable and naive.

He knew that was his last merseyside derby and he couldn't even be arsed trying to win it. I'm glad some change is blowing through the club, but it's one down, one to go as far as I'm concerned.

I agree he was always looking to leave, but I don't think he would have believed he was going to get the Man Utd job.
