Plenty of Reds done well for us and likewise plenty of young Blues have done well for them. I'd take him on a loan or if the price was very right as 29 isn't an absolute dead end in terms of resale value in the modern game.
By biggest concern is that he's a massive wool (like me) who puts on a ridiculous fake scouse accent (unlike me).

Agreed. We need reinforcement at the top. I really hope they are working behind the scene to get someone who knows how to score.
But lets take the positives - We've been leaking a lot of goals as well. I think these signings of midfielders and defenders are to fix that hopefully.
