i didn't shift the goalposts, you did. i originally used it more broadly, you came in and shifted the use to meaning something very specific, something linguistically-inflexible (if technically more accurate).
You are struggling, tho'. It took you three posts to finally state what your initial problem was, and you don't accept colloquial use of the term, hence you will struggle to understand people's meaning when they use it so.
Whereas other people, perhaps laymen, will contextually understand the point being made. Hence one coming across the term used that way so often...it works, linguistically at least.
