Midges no joke - I've seen them darken the sky in the west Highlands.

Only really bad for a few months - smidge repellent does work though.

They`re brutal aren`t they and seem to be spreading slowly southwards, with climate change.

I`d never experienced them, until I ran in a race, in a forest by Trawsfyndd last year.

Nothing prepares you for your first experience of them and getting eaten alive.

It`s like a black mist settling on you and then the pain starts !

I’m one of those few people who’ve lived 20 years in each of Wales, England and Scotland . Scotland is wonderful , it’s …. Ah , I see the problem where this is going. No, no you guys wouldn’t like Scotland , best stay where you are now , maybe visit Edinburgh or Glasgow for a few days every couple of years to get a feel for the true Scotland , 😳. Newcastle and Carlisle are far enough for most folk anyway.

I ran the sixth trail race in portmeirion a few years ago…. Probably my fastest ever 6k running from them buggers 😂

A country of two halves. The two big cities and some of the bigger towns are surrounded by utter toilets with some downright horrible people (no different to most places tbh). The rest of it is absolutely stunning. I still don't know why they filmed Bravheart in Ireland. Weirdos.

Some places are like the land that time
forgot and should be flattened and rebuilt.

Love Scotland, if I didnt need a job near people I'd move up to the highlands in a heartbeat. Also loads of happy memories from holidays in North Berwick as a kid, beautiful coast.

Glasgow: great city. Just don't talk about fitba.

Edinburgh: great city ruined by the posh Scots Oxbridge equivalents.

Stirling: most boring city in the UK.

Aberdeen: great city ruined by oil industry hipsters drinking in overpriced bars.

Newcastle: a stain on Scotland.
I like Stirling. Don't much like Glasgow. Aberdeen didn't have the hipsters the last time I was there, but it's been a bit.

They export the best booze on the planet.

I understand most of the natives just fine, but the few I can't understand might as well be speaking a different language.
