I think Matthew mott has overseen a slow decline of the white ball team. Picking players like Malan who bolster their stats when it doesn't matter, but don't win you clutch games. What percentage of games has topley and Willey played in the last four years when we should have been developing strike bowlers?

I don't understand what's happening to the ODI side, it's almost like they have too many moving parts, too many players to choose from who come in and out all the time instead of sticking on a settled side that allows a player to grow in confidence knowing they have time to cement their role, it feels like the players are playing for their spot every match, sometimes that works in sport but I'm not so sure for cricket.

The failure in this tournament could be put down to poor preparation. Not enough ODIs in India prior to the tournament, but also not enough ODIs in general over the last 2-3 years.
