I think the idea is that players coming through get to play 50 over cricket, what Root was saying was that they don't know who the next gen 50 over talents really are as even the up and comers play either blast or the stupid 100.

The problem with the men's team is nothing to do with the blast or the 100, it's the constant picking of the same tired old names who are well past their best. It's that old boy network thing, reminds me of Southgate at times. Just look at the new central contracts thing it's all the regulars, the usual names. However when you look at England's women's team they have talent in abundance not just within the squad but plenty of talented young girls in the 18/19 year old range sitting in the wings waiting for a chance, they don't have enough spaces in a squad for everyone at the moment.
