Why drop McCarthy, you play your best team at all times, we have the RS, United and Arse coming up, its not like it matters which of those games he misses, they are all important.

Inbefore all the Derby Cup final weapons come out to play.

Well he says the ones playing well will get the shirt, but you have to allow for a drop in a game or two before switching away from Barkley.

TBH, I'm seething at McCarthy's inclusion more than Osman's.

Yeah maybe but maybe he sees it as part of his learning process also. Not so good letting a young lad think he is first team always regardless of what he is showing in each game. Has to learn the being benched part too!

See in the interview clip from the Aintree event that he talked about each player having their little performance targets game by game and for the season. I was thinking about this, and imagine that regardless of the result he will talk with each player on this. I'd imagine he works very closely with Barkley on this in particular because of the stage he is at in his career and also how quickly he has become an important player.

We all know Barkley needs to work on his decision making, I'm sure they work on that a lot. For me he also has no clue about defensive positioning....where to press....lets his man run free and doesn't cover the run. Plenty of time to mould him though.

He will be handled perfectly by Martinez I'm sure. This is just one game.

One game at a time. Think about the derby next week.

We can win this without McCarthy, and stand a better chance of winning the Derby with McCarthy playing. It's a simple rationing of resources.

I support Martinez 100%, but I have to be consistent, because if Moyes had done this I'd have been pillorying him.

I suspect it's a bit more simple than that: Barkley is 19 and easier to drop than an older pro with a decades worth of everton experience behind them.
