That's two potential Premier League banana skin games in a row that we've shown good character and resilience in now. Palace had a good spell where they really came at us and put the pressure on, and it was good to see us standing firm and dealing with it without losing our composure and going into a rushed panic.

I believe our pen was a pen and should have been given simply because the rules say it was a pen; that said, I felt Palace should have been awarded one also when DCL moved his arm across his body in our area. The one thing I will say about penalties is that if the keeper must stand on his line without moving off it, the taker should have to take the kick with an uninterrupted run-up, no stops, jumps, or stutters, etc. allowed.

Going with Seamus Coleman for my MotM; the guy has had a great start to the season for us so far and really put himself about again today, which is surprising really considering he was finished at this level a couple of years back.

Very good point this.

I'm probably getting way ahead of myself here, three (league wins) doesn't make a season. But if the last couple of seasons are to go by, if we can be consistent, there's definelty an opening for a European place. Possibly top 4. Problem is the the squad depth, that was clear to see today. Defensively we aren't there and Pickfords confidence is shot (no fans in the ground will probably help him though!).
I think we will be working around the clock to find a suitable defender to bring in. The keeper is a frustrating one. Pickford has ability but is also liable to cost the game too. His performance midweek was dreadful, and against better opposition, would have seen us eliminated.

Was a real battle. Hadn’t seen much of palace, but they’re a scrappy team, was tough to play any coherent football. Thought we defended well, took a lot of pressure in the 2 nd half, but the subs wrestled it back for us. We show much more guile now, playing more street smart. All of injury time dicking about with throws. That two wins away, how many all of last season? Keep it up, too early for fairytales but signs are very encouraging.

I think as a sub Walcott would always be preferable to Iwobi...Walcot at least can play to orders andwould certainly not have made four consecutive wayward passes at that stage of the came.Bernard is not afraid to tackle and can play to a system...better than Davies who I can't remember beating a man or winning a tackle this season.

MOM for me was between James and Seamus....that goal was tremendous but as the latter shut Zaha right down, £60 grand just shades it.
Brighton game on BT1 next week as well....3 o clock on a Sat...brilliant. ;) ;)

As much as I'd like us to drop Pickford, I just can't see it happening with the reserves basically being nobodies. We need a better goalkeeper badly.

Same team as the last two league games, of course.

Bench:
Lössl, Delph, Kean, Bernard, Nkounkou, Iwobi, Kenny.

Prediction 2-2 or 2-1 for us.
Got it!
