Those mental scars run deep, don't they? I THINK you are safe for this year mate.

And therein lies the danger for them.

If things go as we hope with City over the next six days, the RS will suffer a massive hangover into next season.

If they make a bad start and are well off the pace at Christmas, they will start calling for Brent's head.

It's even worse than making a bad start. Lampard said after the 2010 World Cup that he was knackered around Christmas time. It is the world cup effect. We suffered it after the 1970 World cup. They will have so many on world cup duty and in particular Gerrard, who is running on empty now. This season is make or break for him. Take him out of the equation and see how well they do.

Suarez is a goner. Off to Real after the world cup. All their 'big' players have been over worked this season. They will have no rest and expect to be up and running to compete. Have a bet on us finishing above the RS.

i'm not sure they have the players with the right mentality to recover tbh. if they don't win it, it's gerrard last chance to win the title gone, we all know what type of human he is, he'll be rollocking the rest of that dressing room for it

have real madrid ever shown an interest in suarez btw? just wondering why everyone says this, he just doesn't do it in the big games for me to see him be a success there.

In All seriousness: tonight was immense. But the more I think about it, surely it was inevitable that even the RS could not win their last 12 games to secure the title. They had a good run like us, only longer than ours, but they have finally, thank God, run out of steam.

Tye beautiful thing is, this is their best chance.

Also, great credit for the laughs in this thread.

I will be honest, a few games ago I was CONVINCED the rs would win the title.Great scenes tonight. Exceptional actually, I am still buzzing.

Don't wanna gloat much as it only takes a City loss for the unthinkable to happen, but, after all the horrible, cheating, snide things he's done I felt a great sense of satisfaction in Suarez being absolutely emotionally shattered at the end of that game.

Giggle.

it'll be the most memorable moment of this season, just behind gerrard's slip.

I'm not calling them lucky, because its a little sour. But an awful lot fell into place for them this year. You do wonder how it will pan out for them next year having received such a body blow right at the end.
