2017/18 Cuco Martina

He may be. I like the look of him too but we really don't know how he will do in the first team.

If you are worried about one position with our current set up then you are looking in the wrong place. A young lad being exposed by one of the best teams in the league because we dont give our full backs any protection at all due to our stupid set up could cause him all kinds of problems.

Kenny can play...hes not soft either from what ive seen.

Key positions to fill are our defence.

Koeman's failure to put anyone in front of him, at any point in the game, was baffling. That doesn't really change the fact that he is clearly not up to standard, though.

I also can't understand why the manager uses Martina in a four, where he is much more likely to be exposed defensively, and then picks Holgate when playing with wing-backs.

You have no idea if he is up to playing in the top flight though, that is what I am saying.

Nobody knows. Obviously we wont now until he gets a proper run and I hope he does but lets not go anointing him as our obvious choice at right back with nothing to back it up yet.

I thought he was left to hang out to dry yesterday. No right sided midfielder meant he often had 2 or on one occasion 3 players on their left, all the time Snides, Gana and Klassen just sat in the middle letting him get over run.

If Koeman couldn't see we needed a balance on the right then he is a joke. Any manager who has to make 2 subs at half time (without an injury) is admitting he was out thought by the other manager. And then to still not balance the right side, was infuriating!!

Martina isn't the best, but the formation yesterday was a shambles and this guy was left to look like a mug.
If you don't believe me watch it back, I watched on tv this morning.

I thought key players were hiding yesterday, very disappointed but mostly disappointed by Koemans inept and phenomenal tactics and damn right lack of capability to see the blinking obvious.
Holgate has that problem every week he copes!

He is decent at crosses... to whom exactly is going to be on the end of these crosses?

It's like signing a dead-ball specialist... no-one to aim at.

I genuinely cannot see how we can score a goal. We will score less than 40 goals this year.

He also doesn't head the ball back into the middle of the goal which this fella seems to love to do, 3 times I think it is now.
Holgate also does it ie. the city equaliser

It's his playing style. Dreadful defending.

When he did it the first time in our first friendly I thought ok he was going to learn from this but clearly he won't as he is approaching 28.

It doesn't mean he doesn't rate Kenny, who was on the bench for the last few months of the season as well.

We needed some experienced cover. You can't head into a busy season with two 20-yr-olds, one of which is a CB by trade, as your right-back options.

At the same time, spending £15m on a full back would be pointless with Seamus to return, and would only further stunt Kenny's development.

Spurs have Kyle walker peters yet still signed aurier as competition for tripper

They're only challenging for the league every season so they must be doing things wrong

If Baines gets injured this guy plays left back for us. Think about that for a second. He is absolutely awful at right back, imagine what he's going to be like on his weaker foot. Then consider how well the transfer window went. No striker and this guy as first choice right back and back up left back, 'sake.

He isn't. Shouldn't be playing against decent teams like Spurs as I've said before but against weak cup teams he's fine.

The bare minimum requirement for a full back, the absolute bare minimum, is that you can block a cross. Tony Hibbert could do it, couldn't do much else, but he could put his body in front of a cross. This man is incapable of doing that as he's scared of footballs.
