Cup quarter final memories, good and bad

The worst Wigan 2013. Two reasons the shocking performance and I ended up in hospital that night and was in for 28 days. Nothing to do with the football but it was a double whammy.

The best was beating Newcastle in 1995. It was the first of 3 games in a row in the cup where everyone said we would lose. Waggy scored the winner it was great. I'm from West Cumbria and Newcastle are the 3rd most popular team after the 2 red darlings so I savoured it that little bit more.

Chelsea, Carling Cup think 2008. We had such a good chance against them. Didn't speak to my flatmate for a few days after.
Other was fiorentina. Great performance. Pens. Lost. But I didn't leave angry at least.

Chelsea was a semi final, Fiorentina was a last 16 game

Luton away 1986.

I was devastated when we drew them on that horrible plastic pitch, even that brilliant Everton side struggled there and at that other plastic surface at QPR.

Can't say I there but listened on the radio and turned it off when Mark Stein put them 2-0 up convinced we were out and put Grandstand on later for the final score amazed that we'd managed to turn it round and get it back to 2-2.

I was certainly at the replay to witness Gary Lineker's winning goal which was his best goal in a Blue shirt. Luton played quite well that night and were probably a touch unlucky not to take it to extra time.

Great atmosphere.
And being in the street end watching our mob slowly taking the middle of the park end .
When big Bob scores you can see the evil mob.

Jim Pearson..was ok ...lads,lads...

And his celebration, looked like he enjoyed it

My first season watching Everton,so that's the first quarter final I remember. My dad took me in the park end stand for that game, though I would have had no idea what was going on underneath us! Often used to go to my grandparents house in Kirkdale before the game,I'm sure LIverpool were at home that day as well? I have a memory of the area absolutely heaving with fans going to the grounds?

That was a super night. After such a flat performance in the first game, hopes were high that our name was on the cup that year with such a good performance in the replay. Then we messed up against a not so strong Liverpool team playing with their 3rd choice keeper in the semi.

We were great. I seem to remember we had an absolute mass of away fans that night in Sunderland too, they never disappoint.

Just a shame about the next fixture as you say!
