Great atmosphere.
And being in the street end watching our mob slowly taking the middle of the park end .
When big Bob scores you can see the evil mob.

Jim Pearson..was ok ...lads,lads...

They actually legged a load of Everon before the game by the parkend, we got there just after it , one of their lot a mixed race lad was a bit excited by the turnstiles must have thought it was going to be a easy ride, said to his mates who are these sticks ,and pionted at us ,never heard that as an insult before, a STICK ?
They didnt do very well , underneath the parkend , during the game or on the walk back to the coaches, it was a run in there case :( but give the there due they at least showed up unlike most in those days.
Stick, insult boy didnt even make it to the second half, some sly bugger waited till he went for a burst and followed him in to have a word with him.
Last seen him ,head down in the piss tray , didnt look very hygienic place at all to be resting his head.

Definitely Stapleton,
last minute,
after we had been the better team, would have rolled them over in the replay at Goodison
We played them in a league game at home a couple of weeks later,it was a night match I remember and we beat them 2-0,we deffo could have turned them over in the replay. Even in the years prior to our run of success,we were always quite a strong team at home under HK,it was away from home that we were maybe a bit of a soft touch, once he sorted that out...well we all know now what was round the corner for us! Actually(statto alert!),just had a look, out of 63 home league games between start of 81/82 and end of 83/84 (22 teams in top flight back then),we lost a TOTAL of 8. We've lost 7 just this season alone.

Lou Macari?
Andy King still injured that game iirc

Stapleton scored. Andy King was out, as you say.
I think Macari came on as a Larissa sub and turned the tide a bit or got an assist? Not watching that again to check!!! Massive following from us, tears at the end because it really felt like we would never do it.... next season it was us!!!!!
Come on Carlo, weave some magic today!!!

Macari 91st minute sub for Duxbury. No idea if he assisted.

Think macari got a flick on or chest down to set up Stapleton for his goal

Your right it was his pass.

Brilliant
Just before my time.
Although I knew some of the nutters.

I think Andy King got injured at Sunderland the week before if memory serves me right.
He was playing really well at the time as well. If he was fit we would of knocked united out that day. I remember the amount of chances Sharp and Heath missed between them
United never created a clear cut chance all game and they got that fluke 7 minutes into injury time. Funny thing was I can’t remember any stoppages during the game!
Leg break?
He was banging in the goals prior

I luckily gave my ticket away for that game as I'd been given a ticket to a Six Nations match up at Murrayfield - watching it in a pub miles away was hard enough!
Tell me about it, was one of the worse Everton supporting days of my life!.

Worst was Wigan it was like a car crash in slow motion neville was finished and moyes refused to drop him, our best chance in years and moyes prepared us like that, I've never forgiven him .

Bottling that semi final to them the year before and then that Wigan game against a side who had rested half their players for a relegation battle. I was glad Moyes left at the end of that season after that.

Taff, at least Wales beat Scotland at Murrayfield later that afternoon. I remember it was absolutely bloody freezing, so the two 6oz hip flasks helped a lot.
Everytime I’ve been up to Scotland, I’m always freezing my bollocks off, but always have had a nice welcome everytime I’ve been up there :). Would love to visit there after lockdown, probably Edinburgh.

Yup, I remember that win, was a good game and we came into that tournament on the back of one of the worse runs in our history, only to win the whole thing. Good times on the rugby front that day.
