Cycling thread

Good time to buy - seems to be over supply with a lot of retailers and they're letting stuff go discounted. Was going to say cheap but the price of new bikes is crazy nowadays, so that's not really the word.
Plus loads of s/h stuff you can just take your pick of on fb marketplace etc.

I did the Yorkshire 3 peaks cyclocross race last Sunday - felt just about recovered today to ride into work. Uniquely hard race but a great event to do.

I have a full suspension Trek that I've had for 10 years. I find it a bit of an effort for normal riding sometimes, roads and trails. So I am eyeing up a new hardtail. I haven't ridden properly for years so will ease myself back in. I don't want to spend a lot of money but I have narrowed it down to two bikes based on universal reviews.. Any thoughts on these two at all??

Cheers..

I've been looking on Facebook but I'm just not sure about bikes at all. I'm now looking at a Specialised Allez . The Boardman one I was looking at felt dodgy.

They're prob both sound - vitus likely better bike for money. It's CRC's inhouse brand and they've refined the ranges such that they cannot be beaten for value atm. I have a couple of vitus cyclocross bikes and I wouldn't really swap the framesets for anything else, and their MTBs are well regarded.

You mean the bike was dodgy or the seller? Boardmans are solid but you right to steer clear of wronguns selling bikes.
IDK you sort of have to take the plunge if it's your first bike for a while - fit and overall condition are way more important than any one particular component.

Yeah, the Vitus gets the best reviews by far.. however, I'm 6ft6 and I believe the Vitus isn't the biggest. The Canyon is a good size in XL..

Casual cyclist here - keep getting painful fingers, esp index finger, after a ride. Heard it's fairly common.
Any tips? Haven't been wearing gloves over the summer, that might be it?
