van der Poel is riding at an unbelievable level in cyclocross at the moment - 8 wins out of 8 and destroying the field by minutes, on every different type of course. It's not actually great racing, as Wout van Aert is riding below his usual level on a different training schedule, so can't contest things - but as a spectacle of just pure technical bike riding it is inspirational to watch.
Pidcock has been in decent nick - had some bad luck with unfavourable gridding, wrote the bike off on turn one the other day, so hasn't had the results despite riding pretty well overall.
I'd say it's likely vdP slays the Classics tbh - he is in his absolute prime wearing the rainbow jersey, back issues appear sorted, the only rider who can physically match him in Flanders (Pog) isn't doing it afaik. van Aert is meant to be doing both the Giro and maybe the Vuelta, with everyone eyeing the Olympics in Paris. Think vdP will race the mountain bike again after the fiasco in Japan, but it will be a different story taking on Pidcock there - no idea what the course will look like, which is critical, but Pidcock is extremely strong on the MTB.
