Phenomenal finish at MSR as per - Pidcock rode a brilliant finale, gave himself a chance. Mads Pedersen will never have a better shot in this race but legs said no at the death - v surprised that he couldn't contest that as he is in mega form.

I wonder if MdvP had to close down Pog's final attack like that - maybe he did, but he paid the price. Essentially won it there for his teammate. Pog is a good descender but Pidcock and Mohoric (and vdP himself) are the best of the best. Not so sure Pog would have stayed away even with 10 seconds coming down the Poggio.

Pog was his usual happy go lucky self in the postrace interview but he can't be too pleased with his team - said the race was easiest ever, legs were unbelievable, yet Jasper Philipsen gets taken to the final? UAE looked disorganised on the Cipressa, didn't make it near hard enough - Tim Wellens and that young Mexican rider put in hard shifts but needed more than that.

It's always going to be a hard race for Pogacar to win but I really admire his willingness to give it a go.

Watched catch up of first stage of Tour of Catalunya.
Mainly notable for Carlton Kirby misidentifying the winner from 1km out until a good 30 seconds after the finish 🤦‍♂️

Great win from Pedersen today - Ghent-Wevelgem 2-up sprint with vdP and prevailed, went from a bit further out and just trusted the legs.

MvdP still looking like the Boss - he won E3 by himself on Fri and will start as big favourite for Flanders. Often a hard position to win from, but that race is so hard, and suits him so well, that there isn't anyone (Pog aside) who can really hang with him late stage. Wout might do, and could take him in a long sprint like Pedersen did today, imho. Wout didn't look amazing at E3, although he took a fall at a very unlucky time.

Looks like a total disaster for WvA - hard to see him lining up at the weekend after that, hope I am wrong.

Pedersen apparently got back on and was able to ride, so maybe got away with cuts and bruises.

Great result for Josh Tarling yesterday - looked extremely strong in that company given he is 20yo. Should go well in Paris Roubaix if he gets some luck in the cobble chaos.

It's funny how everyone watching yesterday's race can see Jorgensen is the most threatening rider in the front group, from the perspective of our armchairs. But Stefan Kung can't work this out sitting 30 cm away from him. Having that tactical awareness when you're absolutely smashed with fatigue is I guess what makes race winners at this level.
