Cycling thread

I think this is illustrative from that article. Froome was the best GT rider of his generation, and won the Giro just 6 years ago and the Tour 7 years ago, so presumably his nutrition, training and equipment etc. aren't a million miles from what they have today, yet he's a solid 0.6 wkg below what Pogacar and Vingegaard are doing.

Not been on here for a while. For anyone interested in the effects of carbon monoxide on athletic performance:

Anyway, back to the cycling…

Oh, and:

I fear for it. He pushed unreal figures this time around. And he's not even tired ...
I wonder if it'll be one of the pursuants that come a cropper with a fail of some sort and then the focus falls on the man they couldn't get even near.
Today with the roads strewn with rivals in his wake he could still kick to the line with a sprint to wrap the stage up. It took time and Cavendish 40+ years to catch and surpass Merckx stages record, Cavendish's record could fall realistically in three.

I just missed it, or half heard, Pharmstrong turned up in Paris on the Champs Elysee and somehow made it into the broadcast booth (and there's an embargo on the guy with cycling) and somehow there was a very beautifully timed power outage?

I sense a pettiness quibble here for @summerisle

Gutted Cav doesn't get a circuit of the Champs roundabout to solo to sign off. I wonder if they'll have him back in some capacity to laud his achievement.
