On the sides I'm surprised that the upper tier isn't brought closer to the action by making that overhang.

Seems to be Meis' favoured way of doing things, very little overhang, corporate not overhanging lower tier, little overhang in the upper tier too. See also his Roma and Cincinnati designs below and also some of the concept designs on his website:

I heard they are planning to square off the back which will give a couple of thousand more seats.
To cut a long story short, I know someone whose company works with Liverpool regarding their finances: part of this was stadium renovation.

Up to now he's been pretty much spot regarding their renovation plans including their general objectives, time-scale and any costings.

To the best of his knowledge, the concrete (or substantial) plans have been focused on the Main Stand renovation and plans for the Anfield Road.

At some levels there may have been talk of other aspects of redevelopment, but it hasn't reached his level of involvement - or it hadn't.

As he simply put it, primarily they're focused on increasing pounds per seat alongside a staggered increase in numbers that'll maintain this...

...and all funded by the fans. Unless the fans take a hit with price rises on their seats, which was rejected not so long ago, stuff may not progress.

Simply putting an extra few thousand 'normal' seats into the stadium isn't in their interest as it really doesn't add much value compared to costs.

I kinda wish they had ditched the 'greatest home ground in English football' line until they had some more fleshed out and impressive looking renders.

As it stands it sounds a bit daft with the images presented. Thats not a criticism of the cad work (or whatever it is) as thats just how things look in the early stages.... but when you compare those images to Spurs new stadium it's not hard to see why we're taking a bit of ribbing from other fans over it being the 'greatest home ground'.

I think the diagrams are merely suggesting structure and obviously not finish. The detail will come I'm sure... and I'm equally optimistic it will be the greatest home ground.

agreed, hence why they probably should have waited until things were a bit more polished before announcing it will be the best stadium in the country because at the moment that comment is only going to raise eyebrows based on whats been presented.
