Did pretty well yesterday, especially when he consider he's a squad player who wouldn't normally feature.

The issues with his fitness and his boozing are well known. If he could have sorted out his head six or seven years ago then he'd be one hell of a player, and would likely still be playing for ManU.

I dont really have an issue with Gibson, but I do have an issue with him being frozen out of the picture all season (by all accounts, like Pienaar, he has been fit, just left out, and as a result wanted to go in January) and then when we actually have no choice but to play him, we are stuck with a midfielder who we knew wasnt going to last the game. I dont blame him for that, I blame Martinez. It was only Gibson's 3rd start of the season, he hasnt played at all since a sub appearance at Carlisle, he was blatantly never going to be match fit. Likewise Osman, who bar a couple of short sub appearances, hasnt started since the Man City 2nd leg, and Kone, who before starting on Wednesday night, hadnt started since Carlisle. Fitness is a problem across the whole squad, and yesterday was like the Norwich Cup game. Not so much a bad team, but a hugely unfit team. I dont think its a coincidence that we actually got worse in the second half as everyone tired. And Martinez left himself in a position to give Kone the full 90 minutes when he was rank awful, because he picked a clearly unfit Gibson, who he probably always knew he'd have to take off after an hour. Coleman's injury and his obligatory sub of Deulofeu left him needing to pick between Kone and Gibson. And it had to be Gibson.

Very true, can be a great player for us and did ok yesterday, just needs more game time, fitness and to keep going. Cleaning up his act has to happen, but I feel he is a good Everton player.

Done OK in the semi and again yesterday, but cannot for the life of me understand why we are starting players in these last few games who patently will not be here next season(I hope!)

Gibson is a cracking player, anyone who cant see that is quite frankly a bit thick.

That being said there is no point in him being a cracking player who never plays. His ability has never been in doubt.

...his quality does shine through, very good footballer but I'd be reluctant to offer somebody with glass legs a new contract especially with his off field discretion.

Depends who comes in though doesn't it? People keep going on about players being a drain on the wage bill, but given the new ownership and new tv deal, that really should be much less of a consideration than it ever used to be. Taking up a squad place in front of younger players is more of a consideration, but those young players have to be good enough and ready. Chucking them in now when we're not under any pressure in the league is quite different to doing it in August.

As for Gibson, I think he's done well in the games he's been involved in recently. He took care of Pennington yesterday - always being available and putting himself in good positions to cover for him. He also talks to the other players and the officials. His injury problems are well documented but it's not out of the question that a new manager might think him worth keeping - he has the best range of passing of any of our midfielders and reads the game well.

Still should have been binned after the cyclist incident mind.

Cyclists are a menace on the roads

If he is to leave i think he highlights the need for a midfielder like him with that passing range instead of the other crabs and their 5 yard passes.

When we can get him on the pitch consistently as evidenced when he first signed he is the best CM at the club IMHO,but he is a crock and things will only worsen as he gets older, bit part player at best nowadays, time to ship out unfortunately.
