This is an astonishgly poor decision - I would like to know if anyone involved with this deal was also involved in the Niasse signing, because I'm starting to suspect rather strongly that someone is on the take here

What on earth do they get from agreeing to pay Gibbo for two more years? Unless him and his agent said they could have a 25% cut of his earnings?!

Playing football

Quite serious

Sorry mate, I don't mean to be rude to you personally, but I just don't see anything in Gibson and nothing remotely close to the energy that McCarthy has shown, the footballing brain and remarkable fitness of Gareth Barry or the potential of Mo Besic.

Gibson, in my opinion, is at the absolute best nothing more than a grossly overpaid and over rated fringe player... and this extension will send a lot of - in my opinion - bad messages to the lads emerging from the U21s... that they may not get a chance while Gibson is around.

Still shaking head in disbelief at this and seriously hoping that someone, anyone comes in to buy him sooner rather than later.

"I had a few options but as long as Everton were giving me the option I was never going anywhere else.

"People say 'Once Everton has touched you' and it is true.

"It is a great club, there are great people here and the dressing room is great, so I was never signing anywhere else.

"Obviously I have had a tough few years but thankfully the club have stuck by me and I have signed for another two years, so hopefully the next two years go a lot better.

"The first year I came, I had a great season but obviously the rest I have been injured quite a bit.

"Last year I was fit but didn't play too much, so it is nice to know the club and the fans are still behind me.

"There have been highs and lows. I just want to put the past behind me and look forward to the next two years."

wonder who the other options were?! lol at the fans being behind me

When Gibson first signed for Everton they went how many games unbeaten when he played, can't remember the correct figure but it was a lot.
He's an effective player when used correctly and he will be good back up, his experience will also be good for the youngsters.

He was very good when he first came.

And playing the role he did so well, it released Fellaini from midfield more to make his presence felt up top and Jelavuc prospered.

It us just a pity about his injury proneness because he could be a superb player for us.

And if someone from the incoming medical team can sort him out this will be a very good move.

Good player and he was regaining fitness and making appearances towards the end of last season. I'd like to think the drink driving incident has been a wake up call and I'm happy for them to give him more time to come good given how he finished the season. Surely if he's sorted himself out since that incident then it'd be a bit harsh to boot him out of the club?
