out of all the players out of contract I think it makes more sense to offer Gibson a 2 year deal. It will give Koeman a chance to take a look at him in pre season and if he doesn't like what he sees I'm sure he will look at shipping him out for 300-500k. He's at a good age as well so I've got no qualms about him being given another deal.

Isn't Jonjo Kenny out of contract as well? I hope we get a contract sorted for him if he is.

Jagielka? Good player and all that but I think hes an awful captain.

As for Gibson I dont mind him staying. Its a strange one but surely the board have asked the new manager (whoever that may be...) who he wanted to keep out of the players without a contract.

Gibson is a good player. I dont think that's ever been in doubt. It's just getting him on the pitch which is the problem. And if we cant we can sell him in January for 5M to someone stupid. Troy Deeney is a 20M player now so things have changed.

He was, at his best, mediocre on the pitch, at worst a complete liability, and an absolute fecal stain on the history of our club - captaining us to a cup final was due to better men than him.

There is no way that Phil Neville, a man who captained Everton to a Cup Final, is the worst captain in Everton history

The fact that other captains have got us relegated automatically means that objectively Neville isn't the worst (Though is isn't one of the best we've had either)

At worst, he was average
