I still agree with Martinez that Gibson is everton's best play maker

a lot of these 'sideway' passes from Gibson where not the same kind you see from other players, they all curved and weighed, stretching and manipuling the opposition

Barkley and Besic are better players but are no match for Gibson's visualisation

Seemed to me that Besic and McCarthy were in central midfield then later McCarthy stayed in central midfield and Gibson was a passenger defensively.

Not slating Gibson btw I just feel that if besic had stayed on we'd have been more solid.

I think the nice solution would be last derby's 433 and let Gibson play his stuff, is he still quite defensive player technically just not physically

Not saying Gibbo was a world beater today but he always looks comfortable on the ball and like he knows what he wants to do ie. getting us going forward and on the front foot. Wide range of passing and with a run of games under his belt would be a great addition to the team. However, we all know that he won't be fit for more than a handful of games, which is a shame.

I wish he would.

When fit and on firm he is a far better player than either McCarthy or Besic.

Then again, if it wasn't for his proneness to injury United would never have sold him to us for buttons in the first place.

Gibson only player at the moment that looks forward instead of back and sideways and actually finds a blue shirt. I haven't seen that lately in the drowsy midfield that hopes to put the fan and opponents to sleep. We miss a creative midfielder like Ossie or Pienaar. We have become toothless lately.

Played some good forward passes and added a bit of tempo to our game.

He was exposed when tracking back back though, he can't make up the ground like McCarthy, Besic or Barkley can.
