Gibson had a good game - 30 minutes? - on Sunday, but let's not get carried away. His lack of fitness is a big concern and he is much slower than Barry, who we are all supposed to hate on here.
A few other things were clear after his appearance on Sunday:
1. Playing two spoilers (McCarthy and Besic) together in midfield gives us nothing going forward.
2. Gibson can see and make passes that probably no other player here can. Barkley used to do this last season, but it has been either coached out of him or he has lost confidence.
3. Martinez needs to be more pragmatic in the situation we are in. Although I didn't agree with his substitutions at the time, I can see what he was trying to do. Hope this means the start of more imaginative tactics from him.
 
When he first came into the side we went on a unbeaten run, only losing in games he was out, real good player, such a shame his injuries have taken what would of been a great career away from him.

Wouldn't call Besic a spoiler, he plays a lot of positive passes forward and is incredibly accurate playing balls over the top.

Its not going to happen I'm afraid,not now at his age,I know he's only 26/27 but he's been like this most of his career,Taggart got rid for a reason,we got a really good footballer at a snip,for what we've had out of him we've had good value for that money,if we get a decent offer,move him on.
