Actually see a lot of leadership qualities in Gibbo,if he was more of a regular he'd be my skipper.

Gibbo did a full page article with the irish Sunday independent yesterday. He said there wasn't that many talkers in the everton team and he feels when he is on the pitch he needs to play that role too. Not exactly a vote of confidence in jags communication skills. Jags has done well lately but not a captain.

He won't stay fit unfortunately. He's always on the verge of being out injured.

We really need a change in formation imo. Have McCarthy as the 1 holding DM with besic as backup. Then Gibson and barkley as the 2 CM's with Osman and a new signing as the cover/rotation.

It's the way to go. We really don't need 2 holding cm imo.

Agree with this. You look at how Arsenal line up and it's the same formation as ours - 2 holding, 3 in front with Giroud up top. The difference being though, of their 2 holding players, only 1 is defensive, the other is usually Ramsay or Arteta, both of whom are attack minded. What's scary about the situation is no matter how good Gibson and McCarthy play together, RM won't drop Barry so I don't see how next season is going to be dramatically different unless we sign someone amazing

.....I was thinking that he is a 'type' we need cover for because nobody else has his skill set. More specifically can play that defensive midfield role but provides a quality range of passing. Then I thought about young Ledson and without not wanting to heap pressure on, I think he is that 'type'. Obviously he has to manage a significant step up, but he is combative with a really good passing range. Anybody watching the U21 derby couldn't fail to be impressed.

Nah Gibbo took a knock but carried on.

Martinez didn't say anything in his post game and he's not down on The Physio Room as injured so I guess he's sound.

To get a proper handle on this, look back at RM's playing career. He was a DM!

Yes absolutely, Ledson is a very similar player. We need to manage Gibson really. The mistake Moyes made was over using him. Martinez is far better at rotation and this should benefit Gibson.

Ledson should get some game time next season.

Seeing Gibbo run in after there was that dodgey tackle by henry on mccarthy was class. HE also did something similar when colocinni got sent off. Could you imagine barry doing that? He's definately a better bet in the centre than barry, you need people with grit, bite and passion in there. I don't think it's much coincidence that we've done better with him in the past two games than when barry's in there... shame because he'll be out when he's back from suspension.
