Seeing Gibbo run in after there was that dodgey tackle by henry on mccarthy was class. HE also did something similar when colocinni got sent off. Could you imagine barry doing that? He's definately a better bet in the centre than barry, you need people with grit, bite and passion in there. I don't think it's much coincidence that we've done better with him in the past two games than when barry's in there... shame because he'll be out when he's back from suspension.
 
Gibbo went in for a big 50/50 and got a bit jarred up. but he came back on and finished the game. Funny that Gibbo seems to be addressing a lot of the points raised on this board, leadership(lack of) working the ref and getting our foot in. Add that to getting the ball forward instead of sideways and he has to start every game till the end of the season , if available.
 
I'm not so sure Gibbo gets the boot for Barry to come straight back in if he is fully fit.

I've always though Barry was bought as a short term replacement for Gibson. In pre season last year Martinez was really going on about the importance of Gibson but then he went and got injured so Roberto rushed out and got Barry on loan as cover.

Yes, Barry frequently runs in after a dodgy tackle or call to argue with either the offending player or the ref.

Even a physio - remember the Mirallas/Suarez kick and the physio ran on to complain as well?

I think barry wss brought in to allow ledson time to come through.

Gibson is a good player but cannot be relied upon due to him being injury prone.
 

Unfortunately this groin injury will probably give Martinez the excuse he needs to bring Barry straight back in. Just when we were starting to think we'd found a way of playing a bit quicker through midfield.

Fingers crossed Barry picks up 5 more yellows and misses 3 games either at the end of this season or start of next. This latest injury is the reason we will never be able to rely on Gibson and its such a shame as he is obviously quality.
