Left with our blessing, to applause. Would have always been a hero here for what he did , where he took us from what we were.

Then has his pick of the entire worlds footballing talent to choose from , and the budget. Then chooses to publicly go after our star players. , belittle us a club and talk down on our current manager.

What an absolutely monumentally stupid thing to do. How could David Moyes of all people be so incredibly incredibly thick.

It’s a different subject but I genuinely think that sacking their backroom staff when he joined was the worst managerial decision of all time. Not even in hindsight. The day I saw he had done that was the day I knew he was done.

Idiot

Tbf he’s gone on record saying his targets included Bale Kroos Herrera Ronaldo. It was made clear to him he had to play the likes of Webeck etc. still in the squad and that money wouldn’t be made available. The fact that Fellaini and Mata are still there even now shows you he actually spent what little money he was given ok.

It was a bad move all round. Ferguson left title winners but they were all coming to the end by that point. You could stick a fork in Scholes Giggs Ferdinand (who did all retire before he joined) and Vidic. Others like Fletcher Carroll RVP and Rooney we’re slowing down. Moyes needed to go out and get star quality but the United board thought that the SAF genius of taking poor players and just slotting them into unbelievable attacking teams would carry on forever. It didn’t. It didn’t happen under Van Gaal either and now Mourinho is teaching them an expensive lesson.

Ferguson was winning titles with midfields of O Shea and Giggs in a two. He was an absolute genius who made the likes of Cleverley and Welbeck look like stars. Moyes was never going to follow that. No one could have. They should have given him the millions that any top continental manager would have demanded.

Ego and big headed may have something to do with looking an idiot. Still cringe at that top four interview he did while sipping champagne shocking that was. Still overall he served us well while our manager.

I knew he would never be a success at any of the top clubs years before he left Everton, his lack of one win in over forty away games versus the top clubs told me that, so scared of losing he only prepared for draws in all of them games, United was too much for him, United fans knew that after only three or four months, Bobbins they called him, it means this.

Always welcome back at Goodison is David, was a bit sour when he left but looking at the mess we have been in since, and continue to be, we now know what a great job he did, even if at the end of his time here we didnt all appreciate him.

Speak for yourself mate!

The fact he was here so long made his actions after leaving worse.

He did some good, of course he did, he also seems to have inflicted us with this never ending feeling of negativity.

We have not really been in a mess as such since he left, we have been a place or two lower in the league (the big 4 is now the big 6 too so we are pretty much par the course) and still won bugger all.

The Champions League/Europa debacle after we finished 4th sums him up to me. So close yet also a million miles away.

To be fair in the interview linked he absolutely cringes at the whole champagne top 4 episode. Considering where we were under Smith he did magnificently well whilst net spending very little indeed. A terrible decision he made to follow Ferguson.

Still Smith did well considering the ownership for much of tenure, signing players like Dacourt and Materazzi showed he had some nouse as good as any at the time.

He was just what we needed when he came in, but, stability was always the limit of his skills. How on earth he got the Man U job I will never know.
Thing is stability was the one thing we badly needed, anything more was a bonus, windows without being to afford anyone and having to sell our best players, what he had to deal with compared to how easy the managers have had it since cant be underestimated

Hit his zenith with the 2009 final, don't think any of us would have begrudged him leaving after that but instead he stayed on for 4 more years

Gone from being manager of one of the biggest clubs in the world to giving interviews to William Hill bookies in a random room with a sea view probably covered in spunk.

He was a very limited manager who worked under zero pressure with us and then did the dirty with his contract. Fair enough the man deserves respect for working with a limited budget but he's a coward who played cowards football.
