David Moyes - Taking a knife to a gunfight at West Ham, Part 2

(Clutches pearls)

“He could have killed him!”
Not really pearl clutching, nor was I suggesting he could've killed him. But the kid wouldn't have seen it coming and with the ferocity Moyes hit it would've gone flat on his face, looking at the very least at serious cuts and bruises, maybe a broken nose. A grown man doing that to a kid, no matter if he was provoked, would be in far more trouble than a red card and a touchline ban. The police would be involved for sure.

Rice is actually a baby, in his post-match interview he was talking about how Frankfurt aren't better than the sides they had already beaten like Sevilla and Lyon yet he forgot to mention that Frankfurt beat Barcelona in the previous round.
Media hyped up prima donna. Will fit in nicely when he gets his eventual move to a scab six club.

He’s a complete coward and bottle job mate - he helped build this plucky little Everton schtick with his best mate Bill, and created the narrative that we’ve had good times. Knife to a gunfight crap, surrendering semi finals and finals, then crapping on us from a great height when flashing his knickers at united - in short, a fraud.

Sure, he stabilised us, many thanks Dour Davey, but he’s part of the problem at the club and yet blues want him back - madness.

Being in a better position with him (not sure we would tbh) isn’t enough to advocate the job for him, and he’s a specialist in failure ever since he left us - just what we need that.
I think Evertonians delude themselves about 2 things regarding the Moyes era.

Firstly that we were entitled to just win trophies or finish in the top 4, regardless of our current squad at the time or the circumstances of recent previous seasons. For example, Moyes took over early 00s after we'd spent most of the 90s battling Relegation. He then turned us in to a side capable of finishing from 4th to 7th. He did an excellent job by doing so clearly, and I don't see how that can be argued.

Secondly, that our team could just turn up against superior sides and be expected to win crucial games. The Cup Final, we didn't bottle, we were just comfortably beaten by a far better Chelsea side which contained the likes of Terry, Cole, Lampard and Drogba. And whilst we had a chance to beat the RS in the 2012 Semi and it was a missed opportunity, their side still contained Gerrard and Suarez, most notably, which were on a different level to any player we had in our 11.

today reminds me of beating man city after wigan and the 4-4 against utd after the distin backpass.
playing with no pressure
so predictable!
he will no doubt do a job at west ham but he wont get 11 years and soon as they have a bad spell they will turn on him.

And by 'doing a job' it means consistent top half finishes, occasional European Football, the odd semi final here and there.

Any club with genuine ambition to kick on wouldn't touch him. He'd actually be good at a club that just wants to be in the Premier league. Yoyo clubs like Norwich/Watford should be calling him when he's next fired. (won't be long)

Wum?
West ham would die for consistent top half finishes a European football. He’ll get that season after season.
Why would they sack him?

Add the fact we had one of the lowest wage bills in the division.,.

Because that's how it generally works.

On recent history, yes.... Consistently challenging for European places is excellent for West Ham, but before long they will want more.

A large number of their fans genuinely think they are the biggest club in London.

The murmurs of 'too safe' and 'bottler' will grow over the next season or so and he's done.

Try their whole history. They are literally on course for their best ever top flight finishes in consecutive seasons.

It’s interesting to me that their greatest sides couldn’t achieve this, even when they had the likes of Bobby Moore.

I guess, unlike with us, Moyes has the chance to build his own legacy that will not be overshadowed by their historical greatness.

Right, but it doesn't matter.

Football has changed. Fans are needy. They want success.

Moyes is a serial loser and will never ever deliver consistently at the upper end of the league.

Dont get me wrong, I like him. But he's part of the current Everton 'problem.'

I dunno if I would say he is a serial loser - he's never really had the tools. Man Utd was his big chance but it all went tits up.

But I think our current problem is more our useless owner than anything else. He has pushed us to the brink due to terrible decision making.
