6th, 5th, 5th, 8th. 7th, 7th, 6th

Throw in a 4th and Cup final as well - with pretty much zero money

Anybody that doesn't think Moyes was good for us is a knob

Hang on, people are not saying he wasnt good for us, people are saying he is not a great manager. He is in the middle of a purple patch which is probably his best one in the last ten years or what ever. Unfortunately, our stock has fallen so low, some of our fans think he is great, it is embarrassing, that we are talking of him coming in after Carlo, how can you go from carlo to Moyes?? Total lack of ambition.

I have absolutely no desire to see him back at Everton - I just think it's disrespectful and short sighted to not appreciated the job he did during him time here

Would Moyes have us looking like a more effective and organised team at the moment? - Well that's a debate that could run and run

Given what he had to work with, he was a great manager for us though. I think he pretty much maximized his resources, and had us finishing higher than we were entitled to in terms of our budget at the time.

He never won a pot, but bar the odd freak year, the Sky 4 had the monopoly on silverware. Still do, pretty much.

That was with Arteta Jagielka Yakubu and Anichebe all doing their ACLs in the same season (imagine how some teams would have reacted to that). He shrugged it off and took us to the cup final. The whole spine of his team was basically ripped away from him, then Lescott was sold, but within 12 months he had us back at the same level with a new team with Fellaini Jelavic Mirallas Naismith etc and back in a cup semi final and European positions.

Who knows what he would have done with money, maybe his playing style does have a ceiling, but I’m absolutely certain that if he hadn’t of walked through the door in 2002 we’d probably be playing in the lower leagues now never mind moaning about Carlo Ancelotti and James Rodriguez.

What I liked about moyes team is that we were up for a fight. The football we played was underrated too.
Pretty convinced that we would be doing better with this squad with moyes in charge. The squad would be fitter. Defence would be well drilled. Dacoure and Allan would thrive under moyes. I think the loser would be james tbh. I love james but moyes would view him as a luxury unless he was able to put more in defensively tackling. We do look exposed there.

Yep West Ham looked well drilled with Utd waltzing through the middle of them at will second half. He was decent at the time, but we have Carlo Ancelotti who was not doing bad at that time either. Weird how people are still pining for him after all this time, he's like a comfort blanket.

I don’t want him back to be honest. But it’s weird how people can not give credit where it’s due. Losing to Utd is hardly a unexpected result, their performance was certainly better than ours against them.

They should have been 4-0 up by half time. Their first goal also should have been ruled out, as the ball was well out of play. Game is easier when you have megabucks players on the bench!

I suspect Moyes would never have brought Siggurdson, Bolassie, Cleverley, Klaasen, McGeady, Sandro, Niasse in. Certainly not for the fees / wages.

On the other hand he'd not have gone for / charmed the likes of Lukaku, Barry, Delefeou, James, Allan etc.

Maybe it would have balanced out.

Every Manager buys duds - who have money TBF to Moyes he had not that great amount of money his 2nd signing Richard Wright .........

Bit weird to use United as a rebuttal seeing as we were notably worse against them than West Ham were.

So many threads on him on here, so didn't know which one to reply on.
Not saying for a second , that he is a better option for us.
However , so many posters on here really do need to give their heads a bloody big wobble.
He is , and always was , a good manager , who can get the best out of limited resources , as he proved year after year here.
To have that shambles in 5th after their early season fixtures is incredible.
Really pleased for him ( puts tin hat on).

Moyes is a part of our history, a proud part for me, and he deserves a lot of respect. I always think it's a shame when I read about our fans talking whack about him just because he left us. Any manager in the world would have left us to take what was the biggest job in club football.
