He could spot a centre mid too. Wingers less so, even Pienaar was a midfielder / attacking midfielder played wide. Strikers, open to debate. But I'd merrily have a young Fellaini, Arteta, Pienaar, Cahill and even Neville back over 75% of the dossers on our current roster.
Neville would be nowhere near the first team. Sig carries out all his pointing duties and offers an occassional goal threat. in fact not sure whether the others make our starting 11, but with them on our bench we would be a force

Good point. I'll get my coat...

You hit the nail on the head - squad strength and tactical flexibility. Plus, Phil Neville would have adequately filled in as a full back on either side.

They were all good players for where we were and for the league at the time. They would all improve our squad now. Cahill, arteta, pienarr and Baines was my favourite period since the 80s

Was very wrong about them and him, was convinced it was relegation this season. Has bought well though and is getting absolutely everything out of his squad, always been his specialities. They'll surely tail off soon, but reaching 45+ points would be a fantastic season for them considering the turmoil of the last few years.
