2024/25 David Moyes

700 games in charge in the Premiership certainly means that he's plenty of experience. Very happy for him, the team and us supporters with those six points gathered this week. Home to Leicester and a win could see us move up a couple of places and well clear of relegation places.

How quickly things can change.

If you have Dave on ignore, you aren’t getting the true GOT experience.

Yeah that’s the point mate. Also, literally every forum/platform has trolls this is the exact same “experience” I have had for over twenty years any place I have gone to try to talk to people.

Some people seem to enjoy yelling at them while others do not. This time is definitely better than usual when reality is so clearly showing them they are wrong. But they don’t care about facts or reality. You can look up the Sartre quote if you aren’t familiar — sums up my take fairly succinctly. Moyes could win a Cup it wouldn’t change anything. They live for this. It’s all they have. Don’t feed the trolls.

That said I don’t think it’s only the trolls who are stuck on the knife gunfight stuff. It is funny to me how many people seem to value a comment a person said one time over actual results from reality. Moyes has done better than any other manager we have had in the Prem. And he did that despite occasionally saying something dumb in a presser that rubbed fans the wrong way. It’s absurd.

You think any player in that room knows he said knife to a gunfight a thousand years ago?!?! I mean honestly what difference would it make to *them* in 2025? Some fans don’t like it and they made that clear for a decade. Why does what you think about this quote from a decade ago matter for getting results today? It does not matter.

Then you have managers who do demonstrably worse by results but I guess they like their personality more?!?! It’s baffling. I don’t particular like Moyes as a person. I don’t think we’d enjoy hanging out. That simply doesn’t factor into my thinking. He’s good at managing. That’s his job. The idea you’d prefer someone who is worse at managing and gets worse results but doesn’t occasionally make poorly worded similes out of frustration … it’s just demented to me. No matter how many times they say “but he said a knife to a gunfight” it’s not going to change anyone’s mind at this point. Especially when we’re winning! They’re worried he can’t do something that he has already done while thinking people who never did it (here) are better. It’s so insane. “Because he said this quote I don’t think he has the mentality to do the thing he’s already done that over ten others failed to do” is a cursed way to think.
