2024/25 David Moyes

Sound, but hes Everton manager now, so you either hope Everton get beat or you support the team, which means you support the manager.

Im not 12, I dont care that he left us for a bigger and better club.

I always felt his comeback was inevitable, meh, never really wanted it, till now probably to be fair.

Hes not a great manager, but hes great for Everton NOW.

Lets see what he does, if he craps the bed we can both call him a judas and move on, till then, I am left with no option other than to sit back and enjoy the ride.

I was getting quite fed with Everton, but 2 wins in 2 games and you know, im actually looking forward to the next game, its been a while since I had that feeling.

So mourn over Dyche, hold a grudge from 12 years ago, you do you, me? In Moyes I trust, for now.

I read your posts from the thread back in 2013 when he left Everton. Its clear you were a fan of Moyes but wanted to move on from him and forget him. You never turned on him so you have the perfect right to take the line you take now...but that's not the case for many others.

I REALLY hope they dont force me to go back into the vaults...

This poster will go on to big things.

It's a great post.

WTF has happened to your standards since?

Go for it!

Perception is an interesting thing isn't it, I'm not necessarily criticising Davey as id be known as one of his biggest fan boys on here historically and cotemporally, but there are times we have gone to a back five or even a back 6 in the last couple of games.

Imagine if Dyche had done that.

Interesting just to compare and contrast perception and attitudes.

Im not saying that to start who is the better manager thing - i personally think Moyes is one the greatest PL manager of all time, just behind Ferguson and Wenger. He is a better manager then Dyche to be clear.
It is really odd that O'Brien was bought for Dyche last summer and hasn't had a game, Moyes comes in and he's straight in, even to the point of being named post game for additional praise. And there's the sudden improved use of Patterson. It's like Dyche had a set of favourites and only a mission of play and that was it. We've had a bit of variety and a change up of the system and it's paid off in the first three games.
22 games in, 23 points. 16 games to go. It's not as daunting as it was. Although the sudden bout of injuries is a serious draw back.

When we got beat by Villa, the fans of the clubs around us would have been buzzing, looked at our next two games and said, that’s that then, EFC aren’t getting a new manager bounce. To take 6 points from them two difficult games has been a game changer, let’s be honest, if we supporter Ipswich, Wolves or Leicester now we would be saying “forget about them now, they are safe.”

For me, Villa was a top 5 performance this season, and that says a lot, how we were before. Jep, I think we can be pleased with the start with 6 points of these fixtures, but no euphoria is appropriate at the moment. A long way to go still, and 99% of us are aware of it.

Wolves now have 1 point in 5 games, but started with 7 in 3 under Pereira, Leicester started with 4 in 2, under RvN but lost the last 7.

Well Ipswich, are doing pretty alright with their possibilities comparing to a team like Southampton.

Yes, this is true. These two wins cannot be underestimated. But it is absolutely key now to do a Larry Grayson on Leicester and "shut that door" on their hopes of overtaking us. Lose to them and we undo a huge amount of the good work done in these last two. That six pointer, above all, cannot be lost.

It's early days yet - and a bigger sample size of matches will show us what Moyes is all about, one way or the other, but he has got a bounce. He needs to maintain it for one more game, though. Then, we can draw breath and won't need to panic when results turn against us again, as they inevitably will. Beat Leicester and we can afford a few losses. Lose to Leicester and we give them - and the others below us who are just about to rule us out of the relegation battle - life.

If beat Leicester they're toast.

So far so good the best thing about the last two games apart from winning them of course is the togetherness of the whole team, playing for each other, fighting for each ball, we definitely wouldn't of seen the same performances if a certain person was still in charge, onwards and upwards

I find this really bizarre. How can he be "one of the greatest" PL managers of all time when he isn't even "great"? Greatness is a select club. Wenger, Ferguson, Mourinho, Ancelotti, Guardiola, Klopp... not many more get past the bouncer to that place.

Moyes is definitely a good PL manager. He can point to longevity and some achievement, albeit mainly modest ones at a lower level than the greats. I don't want to do him down, but there's an awful lot of hyperbole about Moyes right now that won't survive a home defeat to Leicester.

Some comments from the Brighton forum

"No positives whatsoever. Mugged by the unflushable turd that is Everton. Wish they’d just go down and the stink they cause would go away"

"We don't have to play Everton at home again for at least 7 months"

"This, nothing else, poor team selection, poor tactics, below par performances and a general lack of imagination, Everton being shithouse is not an excuse."

"Yes. Everton’s tactics were mainly responsible for turning it into a horrible and frustrating watch.

At some point despite the cynical timewasting, people have to acknowledge that Everton’s defending and low block was magnificent today. One of the best defensive performances at the Amex this season. They made sure that we didn’t get any big chances at all"

Agreed with them all.
