2024/25 David Moyes

As cowardly as the tactics were, first half we looked like the more likely to score. Beto very close on a couple of occasions and had it not been for Jack Harrison seemingly forgetting g how to make a simple pass, could have had other good chances.

Second half really where Moyes came into his own. Ran out of steam and goal was coming, stood and watched it, did nothing until we were behind and the game was gone. Always going g to be reactive rather than proactive manager sadly.

It's damning. He's too conservative. In mitigation, he has gone there as underdogs in almost all of those visits, but he's still not even got the odd fluke win - which does tell you something after this many attempts.

He's a good manager, but he's too risk averse in the big moments, as his subs showed tonight.
When we arguably had better teams than them at times during his first spell, we should have won at least one. The fact he didn’t win there tonight when they’re nearly 40 points ahead isn’t a big shock.

It's why I can't and never could truly embrace him.

He has a ceiling. Even inferior managers like Martinez will give you the odd moment of unexpected joy, if only because they have a gamble. There's no fantasy with Moyes, no dreaming. Competence, yes. But everything is rational and has a limit that he is too keen to embrace himself.

Thought he got it right today
Offside goal without the lines drawn and a post away from being 2-0 up at half time… fine margins and I’d have backed us to see out a second half two up

Can’t wait for Doucoure and Harrison to not be at the club anymore… must be devastating for Moyes to not have better options when we brought in the likes of Cahill, Fellaini, Graveson, Pienaar, Arteta, Mirallas for those positions

One win in eight now.

If that streaks out to one win in 12 or 13, the mood might turn a little. Moyes is playing for much more than pride over the coming month or so, in my view...
He won’t be going anywhere in the summer, he’s done the job that was asked of him. We’re playing the current top 5 tonight and in the next 4 games so I think everyone is aware this is a tough run.

I disagreed with him getting the long contract at the time but now he’s got it and he’s done the job required, it would be stupid for the Friedkins to make a change, half the transfer budget would be gone.

They haven't spent it yet...

We've just played the champions elect. What do people want? We are bang average at best, had enough chances in the first half to make them pay. Not on the manager. Subs were crap like but so is the squad.
People want the impossible, although getting a draw I don't think would have been impossible tonight
