It’s only natural. Teams will adjust to our setup etc, so it becomes harder to maintain the results. The form overall is obviously very good. As you say, 9 games unbeaten is genuinely impressive and Moyes deserves huge credit for that. I get the point being made though, there is a bit of a shift in the results (and performances) as we get to the more recent form. 1 win in 7 and no clean sheets is a bit of a comedown from the 3 consecutive wins without conceding that we had at first, especially given that we've had a number of games against teams around us in the league. That's not a criticism at all, I'd have bitten your hand off for this run of form overall and the character to have come back for draws in a few of the games is great to see, but I do think reality has set back in to some extent and we're back to showing bottom half form again now.
Length of his contract surely, even then probably about 3.5m too high.Just seen a list stating moyes is on £12.5m a year? Surely not
That's what I was thinking, that would be £5m a year, which is what we were paying Dyche (inexplicably).Length of his contract surely, even then probably about 3.5m too high.
Yeah that's what i'm saying really, there were plenty of people who were suggesting we could still finish top half after he took over, nevermind just be top half over the course of the season, but recent results have dropped off back into bottom half territory which I think is a fair reflection of what we are. I've been pretty consistent in saying I think we're a team I'd expect to be somewhere around 12th-15th. Dyche was underperforming on that and Moyes is overperforming overall but things seem to trending towards being in that bracket again. I'm hoping for a good summer that moves us into the bracket above that, with European qualification as the aim and a top half finish as the requirement. It’s only natural. Teams will adjust to our setup etc, so it becomes harder to maintain the results.
To be fair, the team is still in really good form. I’d rather be showing grit and securing draws than whipsawing from wins to pumpings every other week.Yeah that's what i'm saying really, there were plenty of people who were suggesting we could still finish top half after he took over, nevermind just be top half over the course of the season, but recent results have dropped off back into bottom half territory which I think is a fair reflection of what we are. I would hope hes on twice that, worth every penny.Just seen a list stating moyes is on £12.5m a year? Surely not
Yep, again that's quite literally what I was saying. To be fair, the team is still in really good form. I’d rather be showing grit and securing draws than whipsawing from wins to pumpings every other week.
There is something to build on for a top half push next season. The coming games are going to be really hard though.
He‘s building up on what was already good, while also adding additional goals.11 goals conceded in 10 is a good value. But we scored 17 goals, as well.Yes we're conceding goals but we also are scoring way more goals. That's the push-pull of the situation. I 100% will take that trade-off. I much prefer attacking teams and ending up with a 1-1 or 2-2 than Dyche's aim of drawing every game 0-0. We are much more likely to get 3 points under Moyes with this squad than with Dyche.
