Their starting team had 4 academy players in it (one of whom had been brought in aged 18), I would imagine we've fairly often put starting elevens out in the PL with those sort of numbers. It was an embarrassing loss but the way it's gone down as their under 12s beating our best team is a little bit over the top.
It's a fair point I suppose.

A better case from me would have been a team of only 3 regular starters saw us off with relative ease. (More possession, more shots, more shots on target, more corners etc etc)

Arguments could be made over how many genuine academy players were involved but the point remains.... Every player on the pitch knew what his job was, because they play the same way at all levels.

I’m not sure it’s got anything to do with them being coached the same at all levels as much as it’s got to do with their first team being so much better than ours that they have squad fillers who are capable of beating us in a one off home game. As I said, most of that team had never played for anything other than their first team and so how their other teams are coached is pretty irrelevant.

Having a philosophy across the entire club if you’re supremely confident that you have a successful one implemented at the top and the resources to ensure you’re recruiting the right players to fit into it. If you don’t have either of those things it’s pretty pointless.

Well he could have gone to Burnley in January 2021 when they offered £8 or £9M for him but Everton wanted more so he went to Celtic on loan instead and if Jonjoe doesn’t get a new contract in the summer he will get a good signing on fee and a new deal off another club.
Exactly my point he should have been sold for £8/9m but instead we've kept him paid him a handsome wage following which he'll be gone for nothing.

Look at Man City and Liverpool.

How many players have come through their academies the last few years? These are the biggest clubs in the league with huge reach and im sure im missing somebody, but I make it 1 each in Foden and TAA.

I think people expect too much from youth set ups.

Everybody points at the United team, but thats a rare, rare exception.

I know Arsenal are doing ok with theirs atm, but these things are quite rare.
I absolutely understand the point you are making but we are currently not one of the top four so it is more incumbent upon our youth/academy management to draw these youngsters through. And let's face it, our record on acquisitions over the past 5-6 years has not exactly been an example of good business acumen. £500m plus (notwithstanding salaries) that may have been better spent on developing our youth programme. The rs can afford to introduce the odd youth team player - and let's not forget, as if we can, how our 'best eleven' were humbled only a couple of seasons ago by their ''kids' - because they do better due diligence on incoming players than we currently do. We look at numbers or listen to the sweet whisperings of 'super agents' whereas they profile potential targets and weigh up not only how they may fit in and strengthen the current squad but also their character and personality traits. The job a DoF should be doing but, of course, our lovely owner by his own ineptitude and footballing ignorance is undermining all of this. But that's another story.

Its good for Unsworth and also us that his going ;-)
Will be good if new DOF brings in some of his people through the academy with suggestions from Lampard

Unsworth needs to step outside his comfort and take full responsibility to running a senior team which he has always shined away from so hopefully gets the benefit too

Don't get the hate for Unsworth it's bizarre. Won the league twice in 5yrs. How bringing a winning mentality to the age group can be considered bad is just stupid. Playing philosophy is a much used modern term but it only works if the 1st team is worth copying, ours isn't and we change managers every 5 mins to replace them with a guy with a totally different philosophy.
Brought through Davies, Gordon , Simms, and was responsible for Dom coming to the club.
I’m sure a lot of people at finch farm will disagree with you mate

We need changes at all levels within the club, we are going backwards. This is a win win, Unsworth will hopefully get a chance to manage a league club and go on to have success and we get in some new thinking. Hopefully this is the first of many changes and not just in the coaching side, get rid of a number of players and a number of Board members.

I can see you support him and that is fine by me .Do you honestly think we have had enough come through ? Do you think he has quit for the reason stated with 2 months of the season left ? A great Evertonian yes but from two league winning sides who has progressed to the first team or is that not his job ?
Remember the motto - Nil satis nisi optimum - I know the rest of the club is finding it hard to live up to that .Has he left under his own steam if not the clear out might be what we need .

Of course there is not enough but is that down to Unsworth or the youth scouts? As stated earlier who has gone on to prove him and club wrong, no one. As for the reason, to me it looks more like the new DoF is trying to make a statement, rightly or wrongly
