It’s crazy how even great and supposedly ruthless football men have a blind spot when it comes to family. Strangely Darren Ferguson’s career did not flourish when he was no longer managed by Sir Alex, or Alex’s Bruce after Steve Bruce left… until he signed him again. I bet the same would be true of Simeone’s son too.

David Weir’s role at Brighton as Technical Director is far more limited than our current DoF position . This may not be a bad thing , but it works at Brighton because they have a very astute Owner and CEO combination who make the big decisions. So not for me at this stage of our transformation.

Jamestown Analytics which is Blooms player analysis company is totally separate from Brighton mate, Weir has nothing to do with it, neither did Ashworth.

I’d imagine Bloom provides the data but then someone on Brighton’s staff would be going out to actually watch the players and deciding who on that list to sign. Don’t know that for sure but that’s how I’d imagine it to work

Simeone has another one who returned from a tricky loan spell last season… to get promoted to the Athletico Madrid first team. If only my dad had managed Everton, I could’ve made a dozen appearances off the bench.

Well you’d think so but he’s actually been laying off loads of their scouts as he’s convinced that the algorithm is now a whole lot better than they are. This might be why Weir will end up coming!

They don't watch players in a traditional sense of the word, there has even been some talk of switching to an AI model, its a bit weird the way it all works but very clever. I'm not even sure they actually have a head of recruitment as such. I'm sure they do send people to watch players, I know for a fact in the local area for example they have people all over the shop watching kids at the weekends in the local leagues looking for any hidden gems.
