Average has an upper and lower level to it. It's a broad spectrum. He's at the higher end of it but not an elite player.

If you want to think he is then that's your prerogative. There was no queue around the block to sign him when United let him go.

I prefer to focus more on the fact that we accumulated more points (total, not just per game) in the 14 games he played than in the 24 that he didn't. Scored nearly twice as many in those games, and conceded almost 30% less.

The bit in bold is a brilliant bit of circular logic though. Any player who has a queue of CL level teams looking to sign them is VERY unlikely to sign for Everton at this moment in time. So by your definition any signing we DO make will be a disappointment. Which of course fits in perfectly with your chosen outlook on the club. Nicely done.

As a Dutch person and Ajax fan i hope he makes the move. Lets be honoust; The dutch compitition is crap. He is too good to walk around here. If he does go to Everton you guys will get a hardworking, realistic, friendly player that has an engine like crazy. He never gives up and has leadership qualities. You guys will love him!
