Confirmed Signing Davy Klaassen

Basically yes mate, i have no doubt he also ticks a lot of boxes for Walsh as well in regards to stats analysis.

One positive is that Koeman has never been one to over praising modern Dutch players, so if he likes him then it bodes well (possibly)

He seems (on limited watches of him) a player who knits together that space from midfield to attack for Ajax and is often the one changing play so to speak, all stuff we lack people capable of doing to a great degree.

Hell, he gets a huge plus from me if he just gets himself often into the box and stuff as we have been criminally bad for lacking that type of player since Cahill left

Not jumping for joy at signing him (if we do), but similarly optimistic about him (and compared to some linked with absolutely relieved)
He has the game, yes. And he fits what we need in terms of a threat from midfield. Big fish small pond, though. That's what I'm thinking. If we get him hopefully that suspicion is unfounded.

It's not deniable and it's not sustained as a proposition. Let's see how he does first over a number of games.

I have my doubts. He goes missing in big games, has fitness issues, and I think he's more limited than others realise.

When you say limited, you mean, finest midfielder in the league, right?

There's no way Klaassen is at that level.
Think your missing my point, they were at the same level when they joined hence why Liverpool could sign them. Coutinho couldn't get a game for Inter Milan reserves if memory serves me right. Took a punt and it paid fruition.

Most of the fish we will be able to attract to use your analogy will either be that or will be fish that where caught and thrown back in by bigger clubs mate.

Sandro, Klassen, Keane, Pickford - if those four DID arrive then all four would represent good business

Like everything though the key to this summer is hoping that those four arrive and then IF/When sell Lukaku then the fee received isn't just used to cover the earlier arrivals and a large part/all is used to further strengthen other areas (Creative type/wide player and another forward and cb)

My gut instinct is that these current deals will in large part be funded by fringe players going (Cleverley -8m, Deulofeu-10/12m and McCarthy -20m)

Klassen and Sandro in for the same money as we'd receive for McCarthy and Cleverley is good business though.

Cos sure as hell IF those other four arrive we still need a natural playmaker, someone with genuine pace, and AT LEAST one striker who has the potential to in large part replace the goals we will be losing. Before getting into another cb, left back situation etc

Actually think we will have a huge spend this summer (150m+) but think the net spend won't blow people away

Coutinho was loaned out to Espanyol and sold on his return i think

Mane was proven quality. Coutinho was too. Flamini was doing very well in the Bundesliga, a far greater measure of quality than the Dutch SPL.

I question if you even support Everton.
i hope @davek does.... the time, effort and passion he puts into his arguments whether we agree or not is great and if it turned out he was just a wum that would be a shame and a little sad. I may not agree with some of his points (most actually) but i do appreciate and enjoy reading his opinions.

I think basically where we're at is that we'll just churn again: (Lukaku aside) we'll sell some players and buy in roughly the same quality and give that a whirl.

It's just a changing of the guard. Maybe we get lucky and they all turn out CL class players. But this is a needs must transfer policy.

I'm mostly interested in who we get when Lukaku goes. That decision will make or break us, IMO. He was the difference between us being 7th or midtable last season. Tbh, I have zero faith in Koeman getting that decision right.

Ignoring that statistics proved we would have finished 7th regardless
