Confirmed Signing Davy Klaassen

Totally agree, thats why Ronnys globetrotters will field a side full of attacking intent, 2 box to box CMs, 2 wingforwards and a central striker, with overlapping fullbacks causing mayhem.

#intent.

Think he will vary it myself, creativity on the flanks and Davy playing centrally as an 8- support striker in the main with the capability of dropping when under the kosh. Generally play with the double pivot, 3 in front and a forward. He may alter next year if 3 at the back is still in vogue.

Don't think we will get a 10 in like Payet or VDV, I think he will go with Davy as the willing runner to support the striker centrally.

Think Davy will be his Mane, now he just needs his Tadic and Pelle.

Morgan of course.

On that topic, more fun stats from the guy I mentioned the other day who builds research databases/models for clubs - he just finished up the first iteration of his 'passing ability' model, i.e., ranking players' passing based on how hard the passes they attempt are, how often they complete them, how productive the passing is etc. Schneids comes 4 out of all the DMs in the top 5 leagues (note that this is taking in passing ability and NOTHING else).

Think Yannck is the Mane of the peice mate. Whether Ademola can be a contender next season is debatable, I think the lad is something very very special and would be tempted.

I'm hoping the Icelandic Thor can be our Tadic.

Balance of pace, trickery and craft and bottom line product on the flanks.

Sandro I see also as an inside forward rather then central should the ball drop there, also an option.

Upfront I want two in place of Lukaku contrasting, a lump and I like Benteke, rate King highly and a poacher who can play on the shoulder, Henandez or Itchy Ken. Davy is the Lampard, Cahill through the centre.

Not for everyone's taste but a bang load of variance and options, we need to add a couple more dimension this summer.

I saw it and I would agree, but I'm not going to be to judgemental on the lid as Mourhino and his tactics can suck they joy and life out of any type of creative football. He broke the Barca code at Inter when Barca were in their pomp. So taming a gang of Ajax kids was always going to be predictable.

I see the lid as the arriving late body in the box ala Lampard or Cahill and the give and go kid in the build up, eventually getting into the box to support the front man.

He comes with a hit and hope warning, on the plus side he has bags of head room to improve, on the down side Koemans rating of the likes of Claise who had a similar standing in the Dutch league worries me.

The pace I'm not concerned about Cahill and Lampard weren't blessed, but had the drive and mental toughness this lid is reported to have.

It's a hit and hope for me but I'll give the lid a go.

My philosphey always is if your going to give a manager millions in wages you have to back him, they live or die on decisions like this.
Been at Ajax for 13 years from boy to man with zero experience of playing elsewhere or under any other system.

Big concern. He'll sink or swim. It's that stark for me. There'll be no half way house. He'll either be an appalling waste of cash or a big hit.

He'll have good technique. It's not like we're signing Naismith or some terrible footballer like that. But I'm far from convinced he'll offer pus too much more than we have.
I tend to agree. Numbers are good of course and he is versatile. He's a useful player, but he's not the maestro we need in central midfield. However, I don't believe Koeman thinks he's that, either. I just think we are paying too much money for a solid box-to-box that can play a lot of places. Love his work rate, love his positioning, love how versatile he is, but that's not worth anything more than maybe 20M to me.

I DO believe a Calhangolu is one. Sigurdsson is more of a striker, but he's a playmaker. Neither are pacey. Ever Banega, same thing. Is Brozovic? I really don't know him well even though I've watched some Serie A. But we need pace on the outside as well. Sandro will help. It would be lovely to get someone who could break people down - Mahrez, Bert Traore would be interesting, Niang has crazy pace, but he's not particularly good.

I don't know what all of this means - does this make me a bad blue?

You act like you don't respect Ajax but 95% of the rest of the football world do (they're not Darlington, which they seem to be according to you!). Koeman has won 3 titles in a major league like Holland, and two main national cups, in two different countries. What recent manager (apart from RM and his fluky 'get Wigan relegated but won the FA Cup') has done that? He is the best manager we've had for a while and fits in with the 'let's achieve' instead of being 'also-rans' mentality we need to get to. Klaassen is clearly a winner in Koeman's mould. He's produced not just last season, but the season before too. He is a driving force, someone his teammates will appreciate. He will be good defensively and good offensively and he will fight for the cause for 90 minutes, he also reads the game superbly and I believe in Koeman's judgment (and my own). He won't sink or swim either, but he will slowly prove himself as someone who helps raise Everton into top 4 contenders while he's here.

Saying he'll be an appalling waste of cash or a big hit, is pure fence-sitting and back-tracking, it's more like I said, he will help us turn into winners more often than not and keep us competitive in games both home and especially away (which we weren't last season, even if he doesn't score 14+ goals in a season in the PL).

I suspect we'll see Lukaku replaced by a traditional number nine, a wide player that can actually put crosses in, and Barkley replaced by someone (probably Klaassen) who Koeman thinks can tease out an opening and/or take one if opponents sit back in numbers.

Utterly predictable and probably futile.

The answer to the question, 'what do you make of Davek's comments on this thread?'

Utterly ridiculous to make a judgement on a player after watching him in one game (a defeat as well).

Utterly ridiculous and beyond arrogant to claim to have more knowledge of Ajax than someone who supports that club and presumably watches them regularly.

I haven't seen enough of Klaassen to predict if he'll be a success or not (that's if we even sign him) but I trust Koeman's judgement so far. Gueye and Schneiderlin have been superb, Bolasie's injury means the jury's still out on him, and youngsters like Lookman and DCL have promise. Williams is the only player he's signed not to have shone, however most of us thought he would be great for us at the start of last season.

I'm cautiously optimistic about Klaassen and hope we get the deal done.

"Sitting on the fence" is a common idiom used in English to describe one's neutrality or hesitance to choose between two sides in an argument or a competition, or inability to decide due to lack of courage." Stating he will be just alright is the very defenition of sitting on the fence. I agree with literally everything else you said though
