It's where the infringement ends, not starts. It was a 50 50 call that went against us.
I've rarely if ever seen it given the other way, rightly or wrongly.

If a defender starts holding an attacker outside the penalty area and continues holding inside the penalty area, the referee must award a penalty kick.
There's not much consistency on it, but the rule is fairly clear. If there is a hold on a player and it continues up to and beyond the 18 yard line, it should be a penalty.I've rarely if ever seen it given the other way, rightly or wrongly.
I'm not blaming refs for us being rubbish. I absolutely believe in big team bias, but decisions is way down the list of reasons why we are where we are.
The only one I really didn't understand this season was that call for a foul on the keeper against Fulham. That was a nonsense, and going 1 up there makes a huge difference.
Don't think it was clear on the offside tbh. There was a wider angle that showed another defender a bit deeper - it would have been really close. That was a terrible bit of refereeing. But I looked at it closely and Keane was offside, so would have been disallowed.

Obviously a still frame doesn't tell us for sure, but there are two defenders beyond the play there when it fell to Keane, and it wasn't a long time after it came off Tarkowski. So the offside was definitely close.
But we never got a chance to test that as, in my opinion, he incorrectly awarded a free kick for a foul on the keeperIt’s definitely close but looked marginally offside to me. Think your freeze frame is a split second too late there, with Keane about to strike the ball.

I always thought it was where the 1st foul took place. But the rule is very clear that this isn’t the case. The commentator on tv also said the first foul is outside the box, so it’s a free kick. You’d think the referee and VAR would know the correct rules, but apparently they didn’t either!I was surprised this was the rule tbh as decisions are always given where contact was initiated. Have been for as long as I can remember.
