When he first burst onto the scene I genuinely thought he was one of the best young England players to come through and could be Lampard/Gerrard standard. The last few seasons though it's clear that one of two things, he either doesnt really want it or hes just not progressed.

Hes still a very good player, but I would question if hes what we actually need. Mourinho knows that the recipe for a winning squad is not just ability but a large part of it is attitude and commitment to the cause. He clearly doesnt think Alli has this or he wouldnt be looking to sell.

So if we really want to take the next step then we need to start signing players on the rise and not players on the decline.
