If we signed him to play as a split striker just off DCL then he would probably get us a fair few goals, but it’d also mean we’re massively top-heavy and unbalanced with Richarlison and James basically being forwards too. Alli is definitely more of a forward than a midfielder, he doesn’t have a great range of passing and contributes pretty much nothing defensively. Was badly exposed at the World Cup when England played him in midfield.

I have to agree with these comments. Alli only really functions as a goalscoring 10, which is a role we don't have in the formation that suits most of our players. He's obviously not a CM, and definitely not a DM.

He could work off the main striker in a 4-4-1-1... but I'd be interested to see him deployed as the CF in our 4-3-3. Give DCL some competition (and cover), and allow us to bin off Tosun.

I don’t think it’s a role we need to fill when we have James who will start every game when fit and Sigurdsson to deputise which he’s done alright last two games.
Dele strikes me as a guy who needs to be playing week in week out to be in form and needs to feel like the main man but he absolutely wouldn’t be with DCL, Richy and James all top class.
Would much rather get a top right winger doing Richarlison things on the other flank.

Precisely, Dele Alli is not what we need, blows hot and cold too much, with the latter being more prevalent in recent years. There is much better out there, we need to stop buying others cast offs.

They were desperate to get him in the Summer and were knocked back a few times by Spurs, supposedly they are going to try again in January, makes you wonder what they see in him to pursue him like they did.
