Confirmed Signing Dele Alli

Some if the negativity on here is farcical, we never used to be this bad - I think the fat Spanish, useless tactical kopite dinosaur has killed this club.

Give your heads a wobble and cheer up - even on his worst day, Alli is better than much of the absolute garbage in our squad - let's give him, the rest of the signings and the new manager and coaching team a bloody chance before we get on their backs shall we?

Farhad Moshiri has killed any optimism I once had. I don’t trust a single decision he makes.

THIS IS JUST A DAFT POST, but may be interesting to some...

A few observations regarding his body language in this clip.
When he is asked what his motivation is to join Everton @46 seconds He Eye blocks on the words "Happy" and "Football" which tends to indicate he is uncomfortable with what he said.

Then when he mentions the great players Everton have got he rubs the back of his head/neck. That's called Self soothing which happens when we feel anxious or unsure.

There are more but it's an interesting interview when looking at his sub conscious body language. If anyone is interested watch the clip and look for eye blocking on supposedly positive words and the self soothing touches to his head/neck.

I'm obviously going to regret this when he turns out to be absolutely awful for us, and I will qualify it by saying he isn't the defensive shield or creative outlet that I thought we needed but... I think people have got a bit carried away with talk of his demise, not just on here, but pundits etc too.

He hasn't been the player he was for a couple of seasons, but it's worth remembering that he's coming from a very high base. The way it's been put across in some quarters you'd think he was like Sonny Pike or something, a child prodigy who'd ended up washed up in the Conference North, but the reality is he's still at worst a competent PL player. If he gets back to his very best it will be an absolutely unbelievable signing, if he stays at the level he's been at for the last couple of years he'll be no worse than any of the other options we've got anyway.

In literally our last game we had to put an 18 year old kid in who looked way out of his depth, and we've had a thread on here just this week about trying Ben Godfrey in midfield because he did OK there in League 2, so i'm happy to give him a chance to show what he can do instead.

At his worst hes still 1 of our better players.

As you say, his peak is so away from us its unreal.

Hi thanks for posting and welcome

I don’t watch anyone bar Everton really but I remember a few years Back him and Kane where ripping it up..What happened to him?

Hi, thanks for the warm welcome!

To be honest I don't think it was just one thing, it was an accumulation of things and some that aren't directly related to Dele. We were never the same as a team when Dembele left our midfield and then further more so when Eriksen wanted out and his level declined, even now we haven't been able to replace what they gave the side. I think Dele probably suffered just due to the once really good dynamic on the pitch being broken up. Then Poch left due to underperforming with a stale squad, Jose came in and the football was hard for certain attackers to flourish in, apart from Kane and Son as our whole game was tailored to those two really.

From him personally though he's had a few injuries which may not have helped, some think he'd lost focus and put too much of his energy on external things like clothing brands and such. It's impossible to know if that's true but like I've said in a previous post, he really does seem to work hard to try and perform better on the pitch but it just hasn't happened. On some tribute videos I've seen since he signed for you I'd really forgotten how sharp he used to be and he seems to have lost a bit of that.

Really looking forward to watching you guys now though. I think a lot of fans were happy to see him go but also want him to do well because of what he's given, and it's a bit sad when looking back at that and how it sort of ended up going a bit downhill. Also, what fans of a players previous team thinks can often be quite irrelevant. We signed the 2 lads from Juve where most of their fanbase seem delighted to have gotten rid of them and I know they haven't played yet but a lot of Spurs fans are happy and optimistic over the two, so how a player fits in one side can be completely different in another and hopefully that's the case with Dele and Everton.

Sorry for the long post! :D
