He’s been really really bad for 4 years. This is the closest thing to the signing of Iwobi. For some reason people now think he will suddenly become good again. He won’t.

Signing a player like Alli on a 2.5 year deal, getting a good 2.5 years out of him and then him getting off, is far far far better business than signing like likes of Cenk Tosun down to 14 year contracts

4-3-3 which can transition into a 4-5-1 when defending. I reckon we'll see VDB in a deeper role like he played at Ajax for a bit.

Lampard knows him well, he will know his strengths and weaknesses. He obviously feels that he can get the best from him.
Like with all signings, I will judge him on how he does at Everton. I have a good feeling about this.

Why would Levy let him go free, makes no sense.

Surplus to requirements mate and salary well over £100k pw. It isn't a free transfer. It's like a loan with a fee payable after he makes 20 appearances, which will be early next season. £10m is a reasonable price. Be interesting to see what his salary with us is though.

I just don't see him in a midfield 3. I just don't.
He has front 3 written all over him.

He weirdly doesn’t have a position. He’s too slow to play wide, can’t play up front, can’t play central midfield, doesn’t have the energy to be box to box, not creative enough to play as a proper number 10. You can shoehorn him into a position which is very specific, playing right up alongside a centre forward and dropping just off, like a shadow striker, but you have to basically build the rest of the team to accommodate him. He is as similar a player to Sigurdsson as you can get, without occasionally lobbing a corner into a decent area.

I am sceptical about this signing.
