2022/23 Dele Alli

He still didn't pay 50m for Dele and the other 2.

He signs off on the players, yes.

But we sit in 17th, I don't see why you have to jazz up his failings. Just say we are 17th and he's a crap manager.
Firstly, I said total cost. Loverboy Deli has a 3 year contract at 100k per week. Say some other mugs
pay half of his wages on loan but EFC pays half = 7.5 million. Lets forget about Nat. Insurance, transfers and other add-ons.
Maupay cost 15 million, say. 70k a week for 3 years. = 26 million.
Dwight cost 20 million, say. 70k a week for 5 years. = 38 million. The total pissed away could well be 71 million!

These three are dogs and will never get paid the same elsewhere so may well do what any rational person
would do and see out their contacts.

Secondly, I do think Frank saved EFC last season and was able to do a top job. He had a difficult job turning the team around
this season but so far has done poorly, undeniably.

It still baffles me that professional scouts/DoF/manager couldn't see what 99% of supporters could see. A player who had lost his way to the point that he looks like he's disinterested. I am a bit torn on whether he's a perfect example of too much money earned at too young an age before you have even earned it, or has genuinely just fallen out of love with the sport.

I do get the feeling he has mental health problems and in that case it matters not your profession or income, nobody can function to the best of their ability if things aren't right upstairs.

Anyone could see the guy was struggling, at best he should have been a loan with an option. he had been floundering for a few seasons, baffled why we thought we could turn him around if Spurs couldn't; a team who are more likely be getting in finals/top four than us, if that can't motivate him battling relegation won't.

Any manager worth his salt will think he can salvage a broken player. He wouldn't be doing his job if he didn't.

Very rarely works out of course.

Imagine being him though: You know that the entire footballing world has been aware of your complete lack of interest in the professional game for several years, then Everton come along and guarantee you a tidy £100,000 a week for two full years regardless of form of attitude. It's a charmed life for sure.

Blimey, just checked and he's still only 26! Not many other players in recent years who have completely lost their way as much as him. Even when he was doing really well at Spurs and England he always seemed like he lacked a bit of the spark and personality to take it to the next level. Pretty sure clubs will still keep paying him the big bucks though in the hope that he rediscovers some of his old form.

Isn’t his contract incentive based, not convinced he’s on anything like 100k.

We’ve essentially picked up the remainder of the long term contract he signed at spurs in 2018 (runs to 2024).
Bearing in mind he was given it under Poch and at the peak of his performance, it will be every bit of £100k if not more. If we hadn’t equalled it, he would still be there. No one rips up a contract in favour of one worth less money for the same duration.
