Outrageous the lad had a holiday.
Because he did some lame celebrations and wears/drives flashy things people assume he’s a Lingard-like bell end.

He seems a pretty shy, nice lad every time I’ve seen him in media, a bit thick but with real talent if we can just unlock it. One of those players that people are desperate to write off for some reason.

Realistically, what are our options with this lad? (especially considering it appears to be one of the dodgiest deals in Premier League history)

1. Let him underwhelm his way through to 20 appearances and then pay Tottenham £10m

2. List him on the transfer market and accept any sort of offer to get him off the books

Anything else?

3. Spend the next 2 years explaining to people hes not on loan, whilst people tell other people he didnt cost 40m

I don't think anyone's desperate to write him off, quite the opposite really. At some point you have to accept that it might just never happen for him though, i'm not saying that point is now but it's probably not far off. We're not talking about him having a disappointing 6 months, he's been struggling for 4 years now. He's got to the point where he's been not very good for longer than he was good. People have hoped that a change of manager, and then a change of club, and then a proper pre season would all see him get back to his best but so far nothing has. It would be brilliant if he clicked and got his mojo back but him not being able to get a start on Saturday was really not a good sign at all considering the circumstances.

Completely agree . Forget the huge amount of money he's made and his inability to replicate or get anywhere near his form of 4 years ago is really quite sad.

See now that’s a fair and well reasoned doubting of him and makes sense, but there are plenty on here who just call him crap and say ‘sell’.

The thing for me is that he’s not played in the system he thrived in since Poch left Spurs because all managers since we’re defend first and press from the front whereas Poch let Dele and Eriksen ghost around and find space and relied on their midfield and defence to do the defending. If we have two of Gana/Onana/Doucoure with their legs and strength in front of a proper defence which looks doable now Tarkowski and Coady are in the door we can give him the freedom to be Dele again.
He needs to be off a proper striker though, he clearly can’t lead the line on his own!
I was really hoping for a front three of DCL with Dele left and either of Gordon/Gray/McNeil right before Don’s injury.
