Difficult to have sympathy with him to be honest unless he's been addicted to sleeping tablets for the last five years and that's why he's not looked interested in putting in the hard work despite being more than interested in pocketing £100,000 a week from his various clubs. Everton clearly are not in a position to gamble £20-30m on him by making him a first team regular this season, and this interview has probably killed off any chance we did have of offloading him. I acknowledge him for being brave and speaking publicly about this issue, but it's not the best of news for Everton as a business. Speaking clearly from a business perspective here where there is no room to pay somebody £100,000 a week for nothing in return.
What was he meant to do?

‘Sorry everton, don’t employ me.’

One of the best things about this forum
Is the mental health thread but you still get ignorant comments like this.

From a business perspective, I don't feel this interview and the subsequent revelations should give him another chance or propel him into the first team at a cost of up to £30m to a massively struggling club. If we're talking about anybody being abused as a child, yes of course huge amounts of sympathy. All of this said though, he's been happy to take millions upon millions of pounds despite seemingly knowing he's not in the first 'place' to be a professional footballer and it has been a huge shame if no club has been prepared to offer him any form of help. In any case, I hope he gets better and I hope Everton don't have to end up paying tens of millions over the next 12 months.
Everyone else is just hoping the player gets the help he needs and applauding him for his bravery and then we have little lord arsehole over here worrying about the clubs finances.

Jesus it’s bringing the wrong uns right out the woodwork today isn’t it?

Think every blue should be right behind Dele, the lad deserves a hell of a lot of credit for not only recognising he needed help and getting it but also have the courage to open up in public, seen nothing but support for him on socials from all quarters of the football community

Have you not listened to the entire interview? Do you have any clue about mental health? As a Senior Nurse Practitioner in mental health I can give you a clearer understanding to support your own awareness of the trauma Dele has been through. Then you would understand how you could be sympathetic towards him.

ah well, that’s something I guess.

I've always liked the guy, he seems a really nice bloke.

But wow has he had it tough. I knew he hadn't had a great childhood, but hearing about it is something else.

Abused at 6, smoking at 7, dealing drugs at 8. Jesus Christ.

Huge respect to him for opening up like this. I hope he's on the right track to happiness now, whether his football career rebounds or not.

I'd love nothing more than for Deli to perform for us. Even to only 50% of what we saw 5/6 years a go.

However, we're very close to having to pay £10m for him.

If he can get through the demons that have hounded him and he is getting some professional help then all the better for him.

Lets see if Dyche and possible some help from Poch will get his head straight again!
