It's good to hear that the club have been supportive to him over this

I know some like to whinge that we're "too nice" sometimes, and clearly the running of the club on the whole has been a shambles, but we at least seem capable of getting this sort of stuff right, and honestly this sort of stuff is probably more important in the long run anyway

If he can get his life back on track and the role Everton has played in it has helped him get there, then good on the folks at the club involved

I know he was on the list of players travelling to Switzerland, however I don't think I have seen him in any of the training clips.

He's been pictured there. No idea when that interview was recorded though as in it he was a few weeks away from returning

Difficult to have sympathy with him to be honest unless he's been addicted to sleeping tablets for the last five years and that's why he's not looked interested in putting in the hard work despite being more than interested in pocketing £100,000 a week from his various clubs. Everton clearly are not in a position to gamble £20-30m on him by making him a first team regular this season, and this interview has probably killed off any chance we did have of offloading him. I acknowledge him for being brave and speaking publicly about this issue, but it's not the best of news for Everton as a business. Speaking clearly from a business perspective here where there is no room to pay somebody £100,000 a week for nothing in return.
Wow.. Harsh that mate.

Sometimes there are things more important than money and football...

What a player he’d be if we could get him right.

I hate most things about our club, but supporting him the way he says is a definite positive.

Hope he gets right whether he plays for us or not, him doing this will hopefully give others some strength to do the same thing.
We could literally rebuild the whole team and club around him. I was so excited when we signed him.

Lad sort your head out

Not sure how to put into words how heart wrenching that was to watch, because I don't think he was ready to start talking about it yet, he's still got a long road to walk and the absolute vultures in the tabloids have forces his hand. I would love nothing more than for him to be a star for us this season but I'd give that away knowing he was sound mentally long term.

That opened up some trauma of my own, really tough, and shows that anyone can be going through tough times, a couple of sad comments already regarding he's earning enough money to be happy etc, shouldn't be surprised.

My respect for him has gone up. His early years sounded incredibly traumatic to say the least. Negative events in your early years have such a profound effect on your life and they only get worse if not dealt with.

He seems like he's turned a corner. He spoke very well and has a lot of self accountability. He's looked within and admitted he hasn't helped himself. You can't improve until you've reached that stage.

I hope things work out for him no matter what happens.

Well done to him for being brave enough to open up, I hope he gets back on the right track going forward and has a decent career.

Ultimately it’s not changed his probable future at Everton, it’s just not financially viable.
