Be like a new signing, but remember every section of games he plays for us, the deal goes up to a stupid value .....

As fans we shouldn't care about that, the money side should be alien to us. We should only care about the team, the players and getting behind them to try an help them play as well as they can. That's how I see it, however this is Everton.

Ideal worlds don't exist for us.

Regardless, I hope we do get behind him as afanbaseand forget the money side, help him thru this period and hopefully he can get to a point where it doesn't affect his life so he can return to normality

That was difficult to watch.
Of course it must have been far harder for him to publically talk about such personal issues.
I had always understood that he had a 'difficult' upbringing . . . but Jesus H Christ that interview brought tears to my eyes
The fact that he even survived such a terrible childhood is testament to his strength and determination.
Fantastic to see that he has started therapy and that he is now at a stage where he can talk openly about his problems. This is just the beginning of his recovery though and I really hope that things work out well for him in the future.

Massive respect to him for that. Given what he's been through, it would be understandable if he ended up as an addict slumped in an alley somewhere. The fact he's ended up a pro footballer is both a blessing and a curse. Obviously he gets the money and success side of it, but he's also someone who's experienced extreme trauma yet finds himself under the most intense spotlight and scrutiny imaginable, all while having to process his childhood. Good luck to him.

I wonder what the terms of the appearance-related fees to Spurs are.

Specifically, if his contract expires next summer and we sign him on a new deal after a season on loan somewhere...

Heavy that. Hope he recovers, and gets his career back on track.

Can't be at us though. Can't afford it.
It will be at us. Absolutely no chance we kick him to the curb now. Plus, we don’t know whether the club have factored what we have to pay into the accounts anyway. Everyone is just assuming. If we can get 50% of the Deli from a few years ago, and the fans will see this as a new signing and he will have the full support of everyone at the ground.

We are skint .....

Hopefully he can get back on track with us. If not, I hope wherever he goes it works out for him and he stays in a good place.

Firstly, the poor lad had a terrible time early in life, nobody deserves that.

Secondly, it’s very understandable to want to block out those feelings and memories as a young lad who has nobody to talk to about these things and is constantly in the papers so I can totally see how sleeping pills could look a good option, a lot of high profile celebrities have similar additions.

Really brave of him to get help and then come out and share his story and I believed every word he said was from a place of positivity, not blame on anyone else.

From a selfish point of view, he clearly appreciates Everton and what we’ve done, gave respect to Dyche and said he wanted to be even better than he was before - he sounded hungry and said a few times he loves the game.

If he gets a fresh start, becomes close to what he was before and we have to pay £20m this season because he hits a couple of clauses he will be worth it 100%.

I’d love him to succeed here against all odds and I think a man to man coach like Dyche could be perfect for him at this stage in his life.
