2022/23 Dele Alli

But Spurs WOULDN’T be being charitable.

Everton simply aren’t in a financial situation currently where they can gamble £10m on Dele coming good with only 7 games of leeway, however much we might want. So Spurs won’t be getting their £10m. He’ll either go on loan or won’t play.

Extending the clause to 17 games gives enough leeway for us to give him a go, and see if he looks like turning it round here, which would see Spurs getting their £10m, with the added bonus that if it doesn’t work out and we sell for money in January, they get a slice.

You seem to be seeing it as Spurs giving up £10m, when it’s actually increasing their chances of getting some money.

It needs someone with some balls to make the decision.

If it's financial...pull the plug and do it fast.

IF Alli says he's ready and IF Dyche wants him....we could have a player on our hands that it maybe worth the cost.

He obviously wasn't going to say anything otherwise. But he did sound fairly positive towards Everton and then later on with Dyche - that can only be a good thing for all involved...

Playing someone to get them back on their feet is the type of thing that will get us relegated. He has to earn it (and I hope he does). I’d much prefer Deli to Maupay in fairness but that is where I draw the line. He has to show it. Rehab isn’t a miracle solution. You can get all the help you want and it doesn’t always cure you mentally.

I would love Deli to make a full recovery but let’s be honest. We have to make the best decision for ourselves and not allow this to become more than it is: a guy coming out about his struggles and trying to get better. We shouldn’t try and turn this into an “Everton FC fixed me!” situation. It’s self-righteous and stupid to act like a martyr. I am rooting for him though.

Sure, and I reckon he will. The thing(s) that saw his form fall of a cliff are being treated and addressed.
We shall see. Everton has been a theatrical production for far too long. I hope the guy is free from any demons and gets back to being a real footballer, but this stuff tends to take way more time for a full recovery. We can’t afford to give minutes if he still isn’t there.

He absolutely could’ve said whatever he wanted. If we’d been anything less than supportive he could’ve said whatever he wanted to try and drum up interest from another club and say ‘it’s not my fault I just want to play now come and get me’, he’d get his contracts worth regardless.

I think we’ve always been a club to support our players and any staff member for that matter by all accounts and Dyche has always been a huge advocate of the man management, father figure approach to managing teams so I don’t think he could be in a better atmosphere than that.

…he’ll also get a big respectful reception from Goodison if he plays again… let’s just hope he plays well if he does because he can turn pretty quick if a player isn’t playing well…

Powerful interview. I really hope it works out for him. Proud of our club for the support we've given him. He has a great opportunity with Sean Dyche in his corner.
Think he will get the structure and humanity he hinted at under Dyche regime. Suppose it will come down to what's best for Everton as Dyche sees it.

"I decided to go to a modern-day rehab facility for mental health. They deal with addiction, mental health and trauma.

"I felt like it was time for me. You can't be told to go there. You have to know and make the decision yourself or it's not going to work. I was caught in a bad cycle. I was relying on things that were doing me harm.

"I was waking up every day and I was winning the fight, going into training, smiling, showing that I was happy - but inside I was definitely losing the battle. It was time for me to change it."

From the interview. Anyone who has had an addiction and/or MH issues will recognise that realisation and the start of their journey.

People worried about the financial side of this , I'm not but I understand why they are.
There's 3 games before the window closes , I think we should use them if he shows up well in training to earn a spot.
We'd have a better idea to keep him on playing or find a club for him.

I think the lad deserves that chance tbh.

He said he needs a few weeks to get back from injury so im not sure if he'd be up to fitness for season start.
