If the lad is supported off the field, (he will be), it could be the best £10m we spend.
We need to be careful with him. Just doing this interview doesn't "fix things". Like an addict, he will have to learn that he may never get over what he's gone through, and will just have to learn how to cope day to day. There will also be relapses. The stresses and pressures don't stop, just because he's talked about them.

From a business perspective, he is in the final year of his contract and we may need to accept that he has no future at everton, but that is not what matters. His wellbeing is.

I said it earlier in this thread- something happened in his life for him to go through with all these antics. It’s almost always a cry for help when someone is reverting to childlike behavior as an adult and it all makes sense now. Hopefully he get gets the help he needs. I don’t think we should go overboard and play him out of pity, but I hope the lads and people within are there for him to help him through those struggles. That is rough.

Pity is the last thing he needs mate. Understanding and support could mean playing him is part of his recovery. Like we do with injured players.

It is never "fixed" mate. Its why ex alcoholics still call themselves alcoholics. But it is understood and coping mechanisms are introduced and learnt.

I know its cliche and we do joke about this, but I genuinely do believe he will be like a new signing once fully fit.
I don’t see him coming back as a footballer. I hope he does for his sake and would be happy as hell for him, but I’m not sure he is mentally there anymore. Can’t blame him

I'm still thinking of his performance in the 45min v Palace
If this interview helps him play to that level regularly we'll have a great player

In the meantime, I'm sure he'll get massive support from all Toffees and beyond

That interview has 1mil views already and it will be far more soon enough
Media will be all over it like a rash too
I couldn't imagine having that many eyes on me on top of such a stressful reveal
Very brave from Dele

Just listened the full thing on the drive home from work. Heart wrenching stuff. Utmost respect to Dele for laying it all out there, and shame on any of the tabloids who forced him into the position where he felt he had to get ahead of it.

Hats off to Neville too. My respect for him as a journalist shot up after that. Far more than just a rent-a-gob footie pundit.

If we could have dele fit and performing again enjoying football and DCL fit and playing that could make a huge difference to the squad. But being Everton I’m not expecting that to happen

Only went public with it because the scumbag press were pressurising Everton as they knew he was in rehab. I'd love him to name the journos/papers who threatened to run stories on him when he was at his lowest ebb.

Fair enough, but having listened I feel that I believe him when he says he is in the best place he's ever been mentally. Just need to get him physically fit IMO...
