Very strange that pre-season games are all about fitness and yet we don’t want to use them to get our players fit.
Could be wrong but I think I read that he picked up a knock or maybe it’s just easing him back in after the stuff that came out in the interview. Would love to see him get a run out either midweek or next weekend though

He can prove it himself yes. I said there was a window for him if he proves himself. Work on your reading comprehension before you preach to me about concepts friend.
Nice of you to ignore everything you said was incorrect and fail to understand how much that gamble will cost us, ie nothing not 40 mil as you originally and incorrectly stated.

Now you are just a strawmanning wum. It will still cost 10 mil and read my first post I specifically said he can prove himself. If anything you are taking what I said out of context just so you can win the internet bub. Congrats

I forgive you for your lack of reading comprehension. It happens mate

This is what I don’t understand about some of the posts. They complain about how horribly the club is run (which is 100 percent true) and they want the club to take the fall for 40 million when there is a very likely chance he still struggles mightily. Not only does it affect our chances in the league but it kills us financially so we can feel good about ourselves as he leaves at the end of his contract. Good luck to Dele- I mean that sincerely. If he proves with the limited time he is worth the punt, go ahead. We can’t afford to play him into form.
🙃

Notice how I didn’t argue about the 40 mil. I addressed your incorrect statement.
Good so now that's out of the way, you'll also understand that giving Dele (that's his correct name btw) 7 games to prove himself wont cost us a penny and if he plays very well will be worth paying another 10 mil for another 20 games won't he, glad we got there.

Had considered that mate.

But i feel the dynamic is different - would you bring him in now - no - but hes here and hes going to cost us 5 mill anyway in wages. we have a need for goals and assists, if he can prove he can provide and contribute - is it worth risk (i know its an if) - yes for me, would you pay 10 mill now to add goals and assists to the team if it helped avoid a last day relegation fight - yeah i would.

Consider we payed 13 mill for Maupay and 7.5 mill to have Zouma on loan for a year.

What else are we getting in the market given our current budget constraints at attacking midfield for 10 mill, as we crawl from season to season on our bellies in the financial limits of recruitment.

The above if prefixed on the presumption that he proves it to the manager enough to earn that commitment. He may or may not admittedly - but its defo worth assessing - which is the point im making really - be foolish not to.

Id be fluid enough in my thinking at the moment.
Hate this argument. Just because we did dumb things before doesn’t mean we should keep doing dumb things.

Really hope Dele gets right and back to his best. Just not a risk we can afford imo.

Despite wishing the guy the best we just can’t play him. 100 grand a week wages for a year. 10 mill if he plays another 7 odd games. Another 10 mill if he plays a further 20 means we’d be paying 25 million plus for basically a loan to play less than 30 games.

Back on topic, he deserves the chance to prove himself, but we can’t play him into form. If he doesn’t show up we shouldn’t waste the games on him and get him a loan where he can see regular footy. Just being on the pitch will probably do some good

But if he's playing that amount of games he must be playing well enough to justify the spend? We aren't gonna keep playing him if he's awful.
